The Head of Software Engineering plays a critical role in delivering engineering excellence across the company. As the Head of Software Engineering, you will lead a high powered software development organization. We power Spreetail with our e-commerce software and are responsible for partnering with the business to build scalable, robust and innovative systems. We're not a "slow moving or outdated" software org. We want team-members to be innovators, disrupters and continue to push our technology further.


As the "Head of Engineering" you will:

  • Set and hold the expectations of Engineering excellence and process, including review processes and technical reviews.
  • Manage curriculum and growth methodologies for Engineering at Spreetail.
  • Build teams and infrastructure to ensure our applications can scale to future demands of Spreetail.
  • Ensure technology needs and plans are addressed and incorporated into organization wide prioritization.
  • Manage major vendor relationships and negotiations required for our Applications, Engineering tooling, and Infrastructure.
  • Plan and coordinate staffing requirements and hiring for future demand across all of Engineering

Requirements:

  • Higher education in technical field.
  • Has held a role as a Senior level engineer or above.
  • Experience implementing both front-end and back-end technologies.
  • Worked in, and managed, a full CI/CD environment and strategy. .
  • Managed multiple cross-functional internal, or external, engineering teams.
  • Hard Skills
  • Ability to define and educate current development practices.
  • Understanding of both Windows and Linux based kernels.
  • Well versed in modern data storage and architecture.
  • In depth knowledge of modern development and release processes, including full CI/CD
  • Soft Skills
  • Effectively pitch and sell vision for technical change and needs of stability and scale.
  • Motivate those around you to reach further by creating a culture of Engineering excellence.
  • Translate large Product initiatives and Company vision into actionable Engineering plans and direction.
