Indico is the leading provider of Intelligent Process Automation (IPA) solutions. We help organizations turn process into profit by enabling them to automate manual, labor-intensive, document-based workflows. Our breakthrough in solving these challenges is an approach known as transfer learning, which allows users to train machine learning models with orders of magnitude less data than required by traditional rule-based techniques. With Indico, enterprises are now able to deploy AI to unstructured content challenges more effectively while eliminating many of the common barriers to adoption.
Indico’s Head of Research is responsible for guiding the R&D team in prototyping and delivering machine-learning powered product features. You will work closely with the CTO and EVP of Engineering to synthesize feedback from current clients, potential customers, and other teams within Indico. You also frequently work directly with customers on early-access features to understand their pain points and product limitations as inputs for Indico’s product and technology direction. You collaborate with other internal teams to plot a chart to production deployment and understand how machine learning features fit into the broader product. You help navigate finding a compromise between an ideal user experience and the solutions that compute resource requirements, training data availability, and developer time permit. You keep an ear to the ground for advances in academia that Indico may be able to translate to industry and facilitate productive conversations about those advances within the broader research team.
You have experience working with the latest deep learning tech, but have a preference for simple, elegant solutions and add complexity only as needed. You've got a strong systems-level understanding of modern deep learning systems. You’re comfortable working with clients and realize that the best products start with user pain rather than a technological advance. You understand your role as Head of Research is to aggregate information and create consensus rather than dictate solutions. You prioritize information architecture and user experience over model architecture. Even when a problem doesn’t permit a machine-learning driven solution you use metrics and empirical data to guide work where possible. You are able to combine your experience as an individual contributor with your management and leadership skills to successfully deliver on Indico’s research goals. You are able to attract world-class talent to the Indico R&D team by successfully conveying Indico’s vision while assessing candidates fit for our mission.
