The head of RD Learning is accountable for strategic learning capabilities and functional learning across all of R&D and will partner with R&D functional leaders to gather learning needs and drive solutions aligned to R&D priorities, R&D Divisions, and R&D employees. The role must remain on the forefront of evolving learning technology, best practices and the competitive landscape. This requires forming partnerships and engaging with internal and external stakeholders to form and maintain strong relationships across the BMS learning community. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring an understanding of the evolution of the learning field and setting the vision, building the right strategy and plan to drive R&D and ultimately BMS’s success.
Areas of focus include scientific knowledge, pipeline, drug development, and associated processes. Incumbent is responsible for advising and implementing innovative learning opportunities for R&D aligned with business strategy and priorities. Additionally, will evaluate all learning activity to determine the impact on business outcomes and revise activity based on the insights gained. Ensures the R&D organization has the required learning requirements from a compliance and regulatory standpoint assigned, tracked, managed, and reported in the enterprise learning management system. Provides guidance and recommendations on enterprise wide learning strategies and solutions and participates in strategic meetings at the R&D and enterprise level.
Serves as an influential leader across R&D, and develops strong and productive working relationships with key stakeholders throughout BMS. Make substantial contributions to the growth of BMS as a ‘learning organization’ through the design and implementation of innovative training solutions. Partners with Business Insights and Analytics (BIA), Corporate Affairs communications, learning roles and organizations across BMS and IT.
Provides strategic leadership and accountable for the development of a high performing learning organization. Provides ongoing feedback, coaching, and career development support to staff in order to maximize their potential. Ensure the team continues to evolve to develop innovative approaches to learning to enable high performance for roles in R&D.
· Bachelors Degree, Masters degree preferred in a field related to learning, leadership and/or communication
· 10+ years experience in learning, leading a dynamic team of learning professionals. Strong understanding of adult learning principles, value of learning
· Experience in producing learning strategies and solutions for a global workforce
· Strong communication skills
· Energy, passion and resilience to lead an innovative learning business model to drive business performance, employee engagement and a learning culture for R&D
