Team Description

Our Office team is responsible for creating the unique Dropbox environment in our growing offices around the world. From San Francisco to Sydney, our office team locates, designs, and maintains our global campuses. Meanwhile, the Tuck Shop crew raises the culinary bar with every meal.

Role Description

Our physical security team helps keep users and their stuff safe. We protect Dropbox, counsel Dropboxers on challenging problems, and deal with novel issues every day while standing up for users and helping the company and product growth.

Protecting Dropbox and our users is critical to being worthy of trust. The Head of Physical Security handles the constant assessment of the securityrisks to Dropbox, and creates and maintains the processes and solutions to mitigate or respond to those risks. This person will work closely with internal Dropbox security teams as well as external peers and agencies to ensure that Dropbox has a security footprint that addresses the risks that have been identified, while maintaining the safety and security of Dropbox’s people and assets. This person will also lead the people and functions that make up the distributed 24/7 Global Intelligence and Response Centers.


Direct and Manage the Physical Security Organization across the Enterprise

  • Lead the departmental intelligence cycle and risk analysis processes
  • Lead the development and maintenance of the Dropbox incident response program in cooperation with other partners
  • Build and scale security capacity with business growth
  • Provide strategic direction on evolving security and physical security intelligence issues
  • Ensure resilient communications processes and systems for all security partners
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key partners internally and externally
  • Help build Dropbox investigations capabilities by working closely with the legal, Information Security, and other involved parties
  • Participate as a stakeholder in the development of the Dropbox Security Culture and Awareness and Training programs and initiatives

Physical Security Team Management and Development

  • Lead the departmental intelligence cycle to Identify, collect, analyze, and communicate intelligence reporting from multiple sources to identify potential risk to Dropbox assets worldwide
  • Ability to identify the most relevant and critical risk information with the potential to impact Dropbox assets and personnel
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally
  • Lead the development and maintenance of policies and procedures to effectively respond to critical incidents
  • Ensure that the relevant people have adequate communication, training and awareness to execute responses when required
  • Provide travel guidance, intelligence and coordinate local support to personnel abroad
  • Lead the Executive Protection team (3rd party or internal) assets and plans and provide advice to the senior leadership
  • Lead the implementation of tools and processes to provide and communicate real-time global risk analysis and executive threat assessments
  • Build a global network of high quality intelligence resources, working closely with regional SOCs, affiliate offices, law enforcement, and various government agencies
  • Develop a Physical Security logistics team responsible for and prepared to rapidly deploy support resources in response to a critical incident
  • Work with the Compliance team to develop of BC and DR plans
  • Lead strategic security mitigation strategies in support of any Dropbox assets worldwide

Financial Responsibilities

  • Develop and run the Global Physical Security operating budget
  • Manage operating expenses and minor capital projects
  • Manage vendor relationships and train vendors as necessary
  • Responsible for invoice processing and management/oversight


  • Strong working knowledge of physical security and risk assessment methodologies, including threat assessments of locations, buildings, and personnel. Excellent communication, organization and written skills
  • 15+ years operational experience in security planning and operational execution, exposure to international locations preferred. Responsibilities include managing teams, budgetresponsibilities, vendor management, problem solving, and client/ customer relations, for a globally distributed team
  • Experience leading large geographically distributed teams
  • Experience in collaborating with a diverse set of stakeholders, often under high pressure conditions
