This person will play a key leadership role within the Global Medical Rare Blood Disorders (RBD) group. He/she will report directly to the Vice President, Global Medical Affairs Head RBD. The GMH Hemophilia will lead a Therapeutic Area (TA) unit and a team of global medical professionals dedicated to supporting various assets in various life cycle stages. He/she will be in charge of developing and ensuring the execution of the global medical strategy in alignment with the global brands strategy. She/He will be expected to successfully partner with Sobi, an alliance partner in the EU region.
The position requires excellence in strategic planning and operational execution; The GMH will help build strategic plans, supervise the development, implementation and execution of global medical activities, and interface with the regional/country medical RBD leads. In addition, this person is expected to have the ability to work effectively in a highly matrixed environment and demonstrate outstanding interpersonal skills. A strong commitment to achieve corporate objectives while maintaining the highest ethical, regulatory and scientific standards is required.
The GMH leads the hemophilia strategy implementation and ensures timely execution of all hemophilia medical projects. The GMH develops and communicates a vision of the hemophilia portfolio. In partnership with the Hemophilia Commercial Global Brand Leads, the GMH is responsible for defining the overall portfolio strategy and prioritization, integrated project strategies, risk management, and life cycle strategies of the different hemophilia assets.
The GMH is responsible for providing medical leadership at Company forums, supporting scientific communication and Patient Advocacy efforts, optimizing global KOL relationships, supporting business development and external innovation efforts to identify and evaluate new pipeline molecules, and advising the Global Medical Head RBD on the medical strategy of the hemophilia portfolio.
The GMH is responsible for collaborating in a matrix environment with hemophilia leaders from other divisions to enablefunctions to align strategies, processes and resources, and to identify areas of organizational improvement. The GMH will represent hemophilia Medical internally and externally.
Key Individual Accountabilities:
Responsible for the global medical strategy and execution of the hemophilia portfolio
Collaborate with R&D, in executing and delivering the early development pipeline
Build strong interactions with key stakeholders in a matrix organization including Commercial, Scientific Communications, Clinical Science & Operations, Regulatory, Safety and Pharmacovigilance, Value & Access, R&D, RWE, and Strategy & Business Development, to ensure shared/integrated strategic vision for the hemophilia portfolio
Establish hemophilia global medical unit goals and prioritize activities in alignment with the overall global brands strategy
Lead the hemophilia Global Medical Directors, provide coaching to team members, and resolve issues emanating from the team.
Influence a broad range of stakeholders, collaborate in a matrix environment with leaders from other divisions enabling functions to align strategies, processes, and resources, and identify areas of organizational improvement.
Prioritizes activity and resource allocation across hemophilia the therapeutic area portfolio
Provide leadership to the global hemophilia medical team
Oversee the planning and execution of life-cycle management, ensure the appropriate processes are in place for review, approval, management, and support of high-quality studies (CSS, IIS, HEOR, RWE, EDA, etc.)
Lead the overall medical data dissemination/publication strategy and collaborate with the RBD Scientific Communication Head to ensure scientifically sound, balanced, accurate and timely dissemination of data in the hemophilia space.
Oversee the creation and implementation of internal and external training and education activities, collaborate with the regional medical heads in EU, Japan, emerging markets, and US
Work closely and compliantly with Global Commercial Brand Leads to ensure aligned strategies and coordinated plans
Lead the hemophilia global KOL relationship management strategy
Collaborate cross-functionally with other stakeholders to support the hemophilia assets, and to provide clear medical guidance
Participate in relevant Product Teams to provide expertise, and to ensure alignment of medical affairs with clinical development and commercial activities
Represent the hemophilia global medical affairs team at medical meetings, advisory boards, and during interactions with global KOLs
Manage the global medical hemophilia budget
Accountable for the financial management and reporting requirements for the medical affairs hemophilia TA
Travels regularly (both internationally and within the US) as necessary
MD, PharmD, PhD or equivalent scientific degree. MBA desirable
Hematology background and/or prior hemophilia experience preferred
Minimum 8-10 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry
Medical Launch experience
Team management experience
Experience working within an international company with a complex organizational environment; able to operate in a matrix team-oriented structure
Base Salary - $272,000 to $360,000
