Atlassian is looking for a communications leader and self-starter to nurture and craft the stories we share with the world about our company, our culture and practices, and our teams. As Head of Corporate Communications, you will grow and lead a team of experienced PR professionals and PR agencies. You will be responsible for guiding public relations for all non-product communications and will advise on select customer and employee communications. Additionally, you will oversee and handle annual PR plans with measurable goals and deliverables for your team. You will drive media relations with the business press and collaborate closely with other teams across the company, including Product PR, Brand, Editorial, People, Investor Relations, and Marketing, to refine and promote our corporate narratives. Along the way you will find hooks that make Atlassian a “reference company” so that when journalists are writing stories on a relevant topic, they actively seek Atlassian comment. You will lead the creation of media materials including press releases, fact sheets, contributed articles, and speaking abstracts. You will also be a key member of the team crafting keynote content for our annual global customer summits.
More about you
You’re looking for a challenge - the opportunity to lead a team, a messaging platform, and a company’s reputation on your vision and hard work. You love mentoring, growing, and leading your team. Scrappy from your time at small companies, but also a leader deft at navigating within a company of 2600+ people. A voracious reader; up to date on all of the latest moves in technology and the world in general. You always catch interesting things before your friends. With that, you are a prolific idea person coming up frequently with tag lines, headlines, story ideas - but you're also a tenacious finisher – you take the ideas all the way to the finish line.
On your first day, we’ll expect you to:
- Have 10+ years of experience in communications with experience managing global teams and agencies
- Love sparring with reporters to shape a story
- Be a natural writer, able to personally pen op-eds and executive keynotes.
- Strangely, you're also a data nerd; you love tracking progress and measuring results
- You are comfortable taking story ideas from concept to launch – creating themes that can play through PR, executive keynotes, and general marketing
It’s great but not required if you have:
- Well-earned scars from managing crisis communications
- Experience managing communications for public companies
- A long history in the software industry, with deep insight into tech history, future trends and tech nomenclature
- Worked in B2B software companies, and maybe sprinkled in some B2C
More about our team
We are motivated by business impact, and every project has one owner who is empowered as the key decision maker. We define success metrics up front and restlessly drive towards them. We dig into the details, but are at home in ambiguous situations. We embrace our “open company, no bull$#*t” value and have the grit to say it like it is. We're good listeners, especially the voice of our customer. We move really fast. We take risks and fail (which is OK). We take away key lessons to ensure we don't repeat the same mistakes again. We play as a team.
More about the benefits
Our offices are open, highly collaborative and yes, fun! To support you at work (and play) we offer some extraordinary perks: ample time off to relax and recharge, five paid volunteer days a year for your favorite cause, plenty of food and beverages, ergonomic workstations with sit/stand desks, unique ShipIt days, a company paid trip after five years, generous employer-paid insurance coverage (medical, dental, and vision) for you and your family, 401k matching and more.
