Job Description:  This newly-created role will be responsible for the controls, reporting, and analytics of the Bank's Assets Under Custody and/or Administration.

State Street’s finance organization is looking to fill a newly created Managing Director role in its Financial Planning & Analysis/Client & Competitive Analytics team in Boston.  Through six distinct disciplines, the team provides analytics around the full lifecycle of client relationships for business and finance management. The six disciplines within the Client & Competitive Analytics team are: (1) Sales & Net New Business reporting; (2) pricing decision support; (3) bankwide fund and asset analysis; (4) client and product profitability reporting; (5) share of client wallet analytics; and (6) industry intelligence.  The person in this new role will be primarily focused on further integrating and coordinating the reporting and analysis of State Street’s $32.1 Trillion of Assets Under Custody & Administration (“AUCA”) in all facets of management, investor, and regulatory reporting.  This individual will lead four individuals based in Boston and six in Bangalore, and will be responsible for providing information to business, sales, and finance management for all of State Street’s investment servicing businesses around the world.

Responsibilities of this role will include, but are not limited to, the following

  • Maintaining a strict control environment around AUCA gathering and reporting
  • Working with quantitative analysts to glean insights, trends, and forecasts out of vast amounts of historical asset data
  • Leading several global projects dedicated to the continual improvement around the infrastructure for gathering, reporting on and analysing AUCA data
  • Developing new ways of reporting on large amounts of data
  • Identifying new areas of cooperation where the analysis of fund and asset data could be performed or coordinated centrally
  • Working closely with teams dedicated to revenue analytics to explain how changes in AUCA correspond to trends in revenues
  • Ensuring business finance, management reporting, investor relations and SEC reporting teams all have the data and analytics they need for their various constituents
  • Identifying avenues whereby the data collected on all of the Funds to which State Street provides services could be better used to strengthen State Street’s overall management reporting infrastructure

Qualifications desired of the person in this role

  • 15+ years of experience in strategy, financial planning & analysis, or data analytics roles
  • The ability to detect noteworthy trends in large data sets
  • A strong control documentation mindset
  • An interest in garnering deep understandings of end-to-end processes, and the ability to summarize those processes for management
  • An eye for constantly thinking of new ways to present information
  • A collaborative mindset, thinking of ways data and analyses can be shared to make it most useful to the widest possible audience
  • Executive Presence and a proven track record of quickly becoming a Subject Matter Expert – the person in this space needs to be able to discuss trends in AUCA with the Bank’s senior most management, including its CFO
