Your daily responsibilities include

  • For IATSE local 720 referrals ONLY.
  • Looking for a professional, enthusiastic and talented Head Sound Technician.
  • Responsible for the configuration, operation, and maintenance of sound systems, components and related technical equipment located in the showroom. May act as a working supervisor of two or more assistants, oversees their job knowledge and performance, suitability and competence.  
  • Designs, integrates, mixes, and installs various types of sound equipment to achieve artistic or technical sound effects.  
  • Monitors sound equipment to ensure technical capability and assure safe operation. 
  • Follows up on equipment failures, drops in voltage, or sound output to determine necessary repairs or replacements
  • Attends regularly scheduled maintenance and set-up days to test, repair, and maintain different theatrical elements. 
  • Utilizes personal tools of the trade and power equipment necessary and customary to perform responsibilities.

To be successful in this position it will require the following skill set

  • At least 5 years of experience in the sound department on a run crew of a theatrical show.
  • Strong background in Audio, QLab, and Time Code is a must
  • At least 2 years of experience as an Audio Engineer (mixer) on a theatrical show.
  • Ability to work with designers, managers, stagehands, musicians, and actors while keeping a good attitude.
  • Proficiency with microphone and speaker maintenance and consoles.
  • Experience console operation and maintenance.
  • Ability to Troubleshoot and Fix wireless issues.
  • Ability to maintain and repair standard theatrical audio equipment.
  • Ability to learn the mix of the show in order to operate the console when needed.
  • Can transport, set, operate and remove any sound/lights equipment, as needed
  • Must be well-organized and has the ability to work under pressure in an environment that can be stressful and demanding
  • Must be a good listener, paying full attention to what the Artists and/or management team is trying to achieve
  • Provides a consistent commitment to excellence in their job performance
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Must have the ability to troubleshoot in as speedy manner
