The HQI Senior Quality Leader is responsible for leading health-care system improvement projects addressing improved care, patient safety, clinical documentation and regulatory requirements. This work will include coordination of multi-hospital teams and coaching clinical teams as part of system-wide quality improvement efforts. The HQI Senior Quality Leader supports multidisciplinary clinical teams through review and interpretation of data, defining, measuring and analyzing problems, setting priorities for improvement, and designing and facilitating improvement projects. The HQI Senior Quality Leader must interact comfortably with individuals with diverse skill sets and backgrounds and appreciate multiple points of view when examining a challenge. They will help direct the work of a Quality Coach and Data Analyst as well as coordinate with team members at our system hospitals.

This position is part of the UNC Health Care System's Hospital Quality and Innovation Department . This team leads system-wide improvement projects driven by the organization’s quality goals, working collaboratively with clinical and operational leaders and staff across the health care system. The HQI Senior Quality Leader must be able to work independently and collaboratively in a complex environment, lead groups in various quality improvement methods, lead and facilitate committee and group processes, and demonstrate strong change management & project management knowledge and skills. Additional competencies required include strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and an understanding of basic statistical concepts, tools and techniques as well as working knowledge of advanced topics (e.g., linear regression, logistic regression, DOE, etc.) and the ability to teach/mentor others on these basic concepts. Occasional travel to UNC Health Care System hospitals is expected. 


Education Requirements:
? Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline.

Professional Experience Requirements:
? If a Bachelor's degree: Six (6) years of experience in quality team facilitation, project management, process improvement or quality dataanalysis.
? If a Master's degree: Five (5) years of experience in quality team facilitation, project management, process improvement or quality dataanalysis.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
Experience leading advanced process improvement & quality initiatives.Advanced knowledge of data analysis using Microsoft Excel.Experience with health care incentive and public-reporting programs including CMS's Meaningful Use (Eligible Hospital), Value-based Purchaing, Hospital Acquired Conditions, Readmission Reduction and 5-Star Rating and the Leapfrog Survey and Hospital Safety Score.Experience in clinical documentation improvement.
