Job Description

Purpose of Position:

Provide overall direction and management of the Hatchery. Responsible for the development of all employees including the management team. This role is responsible for ensuring the facility have a trained, proficient, well-motivated workforce that accomplishes meeting department goals on quality, yield, productivity, cost and safety.

Essential functions:

Responsible for his/her respective hatchery and for meeting department goals and standards on quality, yield, productivity, cost and safety. This is accomplished through direct management at facilities.

Directly responsible for the development and training of supervisors and managers, working within the guidelines of good employee relations and company policies and procedures.

Development and implementation of the long-term strategy for optimizing utilization based on projected forecasts.

Researching and implementing technologies to streamline process and to positively affect both quality and cost efficiency.

Responsible for monitoring standards and indexes needed to control areas of responsibility.

Administer to ensure that safety orientations and safety/general meetings are held as required to keep frequency and severity to a minimum.

Responsible for quick and timely feedback on all exceptions in regards to productivity, downtime, quality, yield, cost and safety.
Responsible for making sure all preventive maintenance is done on all equipment in area of control and interfacing with maintenance supervisor on all suggested changes that would make the job better, more profitable, and safer.

Qualifications

BS Degree in poultry science, engineering, or business.

5+ years’ experience in chicken live production.

5+ years’ experience managing a poultry hatchery

Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing and must have strong interpersonal skills

Balanced technical, mechanical, and human resource knowledge.

Able to evaluate line employees, and exempt employees, fairly and objectively

Ability to interface on a daily basis with all support groups or departments.

Must be able to adhere to disease control policies

Must be able to work varied shifts including weekends on a regular basis
