What Your Job Will Be Like

The W87-0 Systems Engineering Department is seeking a Hardware Planning, Provisioning, and Production Engineer (Systems Engineer). The HPPPE oversees provisioning of non-nuclear components for the W87-0 program to ensure program needs are met. The HPPPE also leads and facilitates the process for other programs to request W87-0 non-nuclear components, in coordination with diverse stakeholders ranging from other Sandia organizations to partners across the Nuclear Security Enterprise, and the HPPPE tracks these requests. The HPPE interfaces closely with product realization teams (PRTs), NNSA, and the production agencies (particularly KCNSC, SRS, and PX) to track the production of W87-0 components, and to account for interdependencies between production of W87-0 components.

The HPPPE will support the transition of the W87-0 from the Minuteman III platform to the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) platform by ensuring that

Sandia is also home to the Z Machine. The Z Machine is the largest X-ray generator in the world and is designed to test materials in conditions of extreme temperature and pressure. It is operated by Sandia National Laboratories to gather data to aid in computer modeling of nuclear weapons.
