Job Description :
A Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) engineer assures that a platform is capable of finding its way to an intended destination and delivering its payload optimally.
This is accomplished, in part, by performing Missile 6DOF simulation analysis and Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL) simulation analysis. Inclusive in this process is the development and analysis of guidance, navigation and autopilot algorithms.
In addition, development of simulation models and performing hardware integration is required. Performance verification and troubleshooting is also required. Target tracking is an integral part of guidance and fire control.
The engineer will be responsible for designing target tracking systems which generally include target state estimation and target/detection association and assignment which is particularly challenging in surveillance systems.
You will be a member of the engineering team performing simulation and modeling of missile 6DOF Integrated Flight Simulation (IFS) .
- Implementation of Guidance, Navigation, and Autopilot on-board algorithms in the IFS
- Modeling of physical "truth" models and implementation in IFS and maintain IFS
- Contribute to IFS architecture development
- Perform system performance assessments and trade studies using IFS
- Perform pre-flight predictions and post-flight analyses & support flight tests
- Support Modeling and Simulation Working Group
Must have experience with feedback control system design and analysis and knowledge of basic aerodynamic principles.
Strong math skills are required in the areas of linear algebra, matrix math, statistics, and trigonometry and coordinate transformation.
The candidate must have experience with state estimation filters such as KALMAN, Extended KALMAN filter (EKF) and multiple model adaptive estimation.
Experience in terrestrial navigation and navigation state error estimation is also required. Must be experienced in MATLAB and C/C++ programming.
You must have a secret clearance with an investigation within the last 5 years to be considered for this opportunity.
Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL) simulation experience is desired. Flight software integration and verification experience is also a plus. Experience with Embedded Software, RF/EO knowledge, and experience programming in FORTRAN is also a plus.
