The company is headquartered in Reston, VA.We are looking for an experienced Controller Training Solutions (CTS) Instructorto join the SAIC TEAM providing air traffic controller training services forthe Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA).
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is responsiblefor ensuring that air traffic control specialists provide the flying publicwith a high level of safety and professionalism. A well-trained Air TrafficControl (ATC) workforce plays an essential role in fulfilling thisresponsibility. The FAA employs more than 14,000 air traffic controllers. Theywork in air traffic facilities of varying sizes, safely separating more than50,000 aircraft in the National Airspace System (NAS) each day.
To provide such airtraffic services, the FAA trains new air traffic control specialists andprovides recurrent training to current air traffic control specialists. The FAAutilizes Contractor-provided instructional services at FAA ATC facilities throughoutthe U.S. and its Territories to ensure these training needs are met. The scope ofthe contractor-provided services includes all training and training programsupport to successfully train and prepare students to become fully certifiedair traffic controllers. SAIC must provide training and training relatedsupport services as required for all types and levels of ATC facilities. Theselected candidate will support Terminal Radar Approach Control trainingrequirements at the Great Falls Tower Facility at Great Falls, MT.
The CTS Instructor is a hands-on position that requires thecandidate to effectively and consistently deliver the highest quality classroomand simulation laboratory training to a wide variety of students includingdevelopmental air traffic controllers and certified professional controllers(CPC). The successful candidate for this position must have experiencedemonstrating excellent teaching and/or platform skills, classroom managementtechniques, and a student-focused drive for continuous improvement.
The CTS Instructor candidate must have a minimum of five(5) years recent Certified Professional Controller experience controlling livetraffic, or recent experience instructing FAA personnel. The recent experiencemust have been performed at a similar type and level of ATC facility as the GreatFalls Tower Facility. The successful candidate for this position mustdemonstrate strong technical skills with current ATC automation, simulationsystems and procedures. This position will provide mentoring for students andRemote Pilot Operators (RPO) as well as participate in curriculum design anddevelopment. The selected candidate must demonstrate the knowledge and skillsapplicable for obtaining radar and/or non-radar simulation laboratorycertifications at FAA air traffic control facilities within the U.S. NationalAirspace System.
US Citizenship required with the ability to obtain andmaintain a Public Trust clearance
Certified Professional Controller (CPC) certificationrequired.
Candidates withdirect experience as a CPC at the Great Falls Tower Facility will have priorityselection for the position. Operational Experience with ATC simulatorsincluding scenario design for AT Coach. Demonstrated ability to interfaceeffectively with FAA personnel at all levels to ensure the delivery of trainingservices meet the needs of the local facility, as well as the FAA's overall AirTraffic Control mission is highly desired.
