gRED IT LEAP Team Lead at Genentech in South San Francisco, CA

The Position:

The growing gRED IT Lab Engineering, Automation & Productivity (LEAP) group supports the IT needs of Genentech's Research and Early Development (gRED) laboratories. LEAP seeks an inspirational and talented leader to grow and lead a team of Informatics professionals consisting of technical project managers, business systems analysts, and technical leads. Your responsibilities will include working across a diverse team of scientists and IT professionals to manage the operations, development, support and evolution of LEAP solutions supporting R&D labs within the gRED organization. You will join a growing LEAP team with a variety of skills and experiences in both technology and life sciences. Responsibilities:

• Meet with customers and business units to determine needs and develop appropriate solutions.
• Coordinate, track, and manage gRED IT LEAP initiatives and projects that are across functions to control risks and ensure deliverables are met.
• Communicate project progress, issues, and status to management, customers, and other stakeholders.
• Collaborate with other IT groups to ensure technical needs are met.
• Ensure customer satisfaction by responding to and addressing business partner feedback, escalations and gaps in IT delivery.
• Manage gRED IT LEAP staff responsible for supporting gRED labs and associated projects.
• Act as the staff manager for your team, establishing goals and work assignments for staff.
• Leverage existing team strengths and capabilities, as well as providing individual coaching, guidance, and feedback in order to grow the skills of the team.

Successful candidates will have many of the following attributes:

• Minimum education level is a bachelor's degree, preferably in a science or technology discipline
• 5+ years of technical experience with 1+ years of staff management experience required
• Ability to motivate and inspire a team of informatics professionals through change
• Experience providing solutions for scientific labs
• Knowledge of scientific applications and technologies
• A focus on solution delivery, with excellent time management and organizational skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills with your own team, technical IT partners, and customers
• Communicate effectively in both written and verbal form to non-technical audiences
