Engility is seeking an engineer with technical experience supporting the Global Positioning System (GPS) Navigation Warfare (NAVWAR) program to join our team of diverse Global Positioning System (GPS) Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) experts. The GPS SE&I Team provides specialized engineering, analysis, operations support and subject matter expertise to the GP Directorate.  Within the SE&I Team, the NAVWAR Engineer will report to the SE&I GPS Enterprise Systems Engineering Division Lead and will work with the GP Directorate’s NAVWAR team and DoD NAVWAR Stakeholders.


Duties of the position include:

  • Responsible for GPS SE&I NAVWAR Systems Engineering duties, including authoring and reviewing the technical requirements on all aspects pertaining to GPS NAVWAR
  • Responsible for systems integration between the three segments of GPS (Space, Control, and User) Integrated Project Teams (IPTs) and outside agencies for the GPS NAVWAR Team, including enterprise key management, GPS Mission Planning and scheduling, and Selective Availability Anti-Spoofing Module (SAASM) and M-code system level integration
  • Provide technical support for the SAASM Mission Planning System (SMPS) program, GPS Control Segment Sustainment Programs, and the Modernized GPS Control Segment Program. Duties will include support for acquisition activities and milestones, technical evaluations, design reviews for software and hardware, and contractor and government testing
  • Develop Concept of Operations (CONOPS) for SAASM and M-code system level capabilities and interfacing with external organizations and agencies
  • Provide systems security support for SAASM and M-code User Equipment, Control Segment, and external programs by evaluating cryptographic criteria for security certification for the Functional Security Evaluation (FSE) team

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science
  • Active Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance
  • 20+ years of demonstrated systems engineering experience working on a DoD program at a program and enterprise level
  • Experience with Space-based systems or GPS systems
  • Direct knowledge and working experience with satellite system hardware and software design
  • Knowledgeable in software development processes as they apply to acquisition of DoD programs
  • Experience designing and testing GPS systems or elements
  • Written and delivered technical documents and briefings to senior executives
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills as well as organizational skills
  • First-rate problem-solving and analytical skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science
  • GPS NAVWAR and GPS Control Segment experience
  • Experience analyzing and resolving proposed technical changes to the GPS technical baseline (e.g., interface documents, specifications documents, architecture products)
  • Experience with developing or evaluating software in C/C++
