Responsibilities

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a GPS Integration and Verification Engineer to join our Systems Engineering, Acquisition & Operations Department in Colorado Springs, CO. This group provides systems engineering & mission assurance expertise to programs of national interest with an emphasis on ensuring the successful transition from development to operations. 

The qualified candidate will analyze and give independent assessment of requirements compliance and system performance through a variety of planning, verification and technical management activities.

The Systems Engineer will also provide engineering support for the successful lifecycle management of operational space programs, and work independently and in teams as a technical authority, consultant, primary investigator, or project leader.   This role frequently interfaces between customers and Aerospace technical and management staff. 

KEY FUNCTIONS

  • Provide requirements analysis, integration and test planning, performance verification and validation, and risk assessment engineering support for DoD and National space vehicle and enterprise ground systems
  • Provide systems engineering support to operations and sustainment space programs
  • Evaluate and review software and hardware test procedures, witness tests and document test results accurately and completely
  • Provide independent assessments of development progress, requirements compliance and milestone readiness assessments
  • Participate in Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs), Launch Dependency Reviews (LDRs), Tests (at various levels) and other key activities supporting milestone events as required
  • Provide engineering support during launch preparation, launch execution, on-station operations, and anomaly analysis and resolution activities
  • Interact with all levels of corporate, customer and contractor personnel

Qualifications

This position can be filled as a GPS Integration and Verification Engineer or Sr. GPS Integration and Verification Engineer. 

Requirements for GPS Integration and Verification Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Mathematics, or Science from a recognized institution
  • 2 or more years of relevant technical experience in space system development, operations and/or software-based systems development and testing
  • A current and active Secret clearance
  • Experience performing integrated/enterprise system software requirements development, test or verification
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work independently and effectively with the Government customers, contractors, and Aerospace team members
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate projects between different organizational entities and with multi-discipline teams
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and proven initiative
  • Ability to accommodate a flexible work location, to include presence at contractor sites in the Colorado region
  • Ability to accommodate a flexible schedule including occasional weekends and overtime
  • Ability to travel is required.

 

Requirements for Sr GPS Integration and Verification Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or advanced degree) in Engineering, Mathematics, or Science from a recognized institution
  • 5 or more years of relevant technical experience in space system development, operations and/or software-based systems development and testing
  • A current and active Secret clearance
  • Experience performing integrated/enterprise system software requirements development, test or verification
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work independently and effectively with the Government customers, contractors, and Aerospace team members
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate projects between different organizational entities and with multi-discipline teams
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and proven initiative

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced technical degree, Master of Science (or equivalent) or beyond
  • Current TS/SCI clearance
  • 5 or more years of experience in the development, testing, integration, verification, sustainment, or operations of USAF Space-based Position, Navigation & Timing systems including GPS/AEP
  • Experience in the development, testing, integration, verification, sustainment, or operations of other US Government space systems (for example: SBIRS, or Protected SATCOM, or intelligence community) or Enterprise Ground Services (EGS)
