: Purpose of Position The Tax Manager has a supporting role for the federal, state, and local income tax, property, sales/use, and all other tax compliance. The focus is on minimizing the tax liability of the company while ensuring full compliance with federal, state and local laws. Additionally, the Tax Manager is responsible for preparation and/or review and consolidation of all tax information required by Corporate partners (Fortive Tax) for external reporting regarding FAS 109, FIN 48, and other requirements. The Tax Manager will collaborate with Fortive Tax to create the global strategy for tax planning, international transfer pricing and conducting M&A activities. Key Responsibilities

  • Gather and analyze accounting information for the preparation of the US federal, state and local tax returns
  • Ensure tax compliance across global entities working with local OpCos
  • Registration of legal entities with state and local governments
  • GAAP accounting for taxes (ASC 740/SFAS 109, and FIN 48) for all entities in Group 75 (US and foreign affiliates)
  • Assist in the development of arms-length transfer pricing for US to foreign and foreign to foreign inter-company transactions using appropriate methodologies
  • Supervise sales and use tax and Canadian GST/HST compliance
  • In conjunction with Fortive Tax Group manage all audits related to federal and state income tax, franchise tax, sales/use tax and Canadian GST/HST
  • Perform due diligence and scope tax exposure for division M&A activity
  • Liaise with global management team on tax issues and also with foreign operations on tax matters related to their operations (income tax, VAT, withholding tax, etc.)
  • Estimate and monitor annual cash taxes
  • Manage outside tax consultants and advisors
  • Manage implementation of Fortive tax planning projects

  • Timely and accurate filing of returns and reports to external government agencies
  • Reduction of tax liabilities
  • Timely and accurate reporting of GAAP/tax data to Fortive tax
  • Global transfer pricing compliance
  • Accurate forecasting of tax expense
  • Identify process improvements to drive to root cause



Skills Requirements

  • Strong tax technical knowledge, research capability, analytical and qualitative skills
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and US GAAP
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work with international accounting and tax teams remotely
  • Hands on experience with tax return preparation and tax provision preparation
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with CPA certification (required)
  • Master’s degree in Accounting (preferred)
  • 7+ years experience
  • Experience managing direct reports and teams (preferred)
  • Additional preferred Skills:
    • Manufacturing experience preferred
    • CorpTax or similar tax software experience
    • Experience with online tax research engines
    • Strong Excel skills
