The Systems Engineering is responsible for the integrates multiple engineering disciplines to develop and manage complex systems and to ensure all aspects of the system are considered.  Customer requirements analysis and translation into functional requirements documents are the responsibility of this team.  This Global Systems Engineering Lead is responsible for the Regional Systems Engineering.  You will lead a team of System Engineers in Belgium, Poland, North America, Czech Republic and China. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create ONE global systems engineering team that can support regional activities in both advanced engineering (NTI = New Technology Introduction) and application engineering activities (TenPlus = Product Development).
  • Team Management and Development:Create DFMEA Engineering Culture:
    • Establish regional leaders and expertise to apply systems engineering approach for NTI and TenPlus projects and programs
    • Regional leaders will support systems engineering requirements for regional quoting and product development 
    • Complete annual team SWOT, skills assessment and maturity model
    • Succession planning for the team
  • Create Design Review Culture:
  • Establish the Home Room for Systems Engineering:
  • Own the Systems Engineering Execution Processes, Procedures, and Tools:
    • Establish a systems engineering process that generates FRD and risk assessment for products and processes relative to customer requirements
    • Establish the framework /tool for customer requirements & functional requirements documentation and version control
    • Establish global tools and processes to lead the regional systems engineering function
    • Identify the gaps in Tenneco’s tools & model-based development to support systems engineering
    • Develop the systems engineering execution processes and procedures focusing on following key tasks:
      • Customer requirements analysis and documentation
      • Functional requirements analysis, documentation, and version control (FRD)
      • Verification of design against FRD (technical review), this includes utilization of Advanced Engineering tools for verification
    • Own subject matter expertise relative to suspension system developments through IP, customer Statement of Requirements, auto shows, public news and other sources (eg. A2MAC1 benchmark service)
    • Identify key manufacturing processes that have an effect on performance requirements.
    • Own SFMEA documentation and version control
    • Lead SFMEA development events
    • Support functional safety assessment
    • Establish framework for Systems Engineering support for Design Reviews
    • Own checklist for Systems Engineering team to use during Design Reviews
    • Develop the training materials for Systems Engineering
    • Train and develop regional leaders
    • Maintain resource planning of NTI systems engineering team
    • Balance the global NTI resource requirements


  • Masters’ degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 5- 10 years of experience in systems engineering
  • Strong people management experience
  • Background in model based engineering and/or vehicle dynamics
  • Knowledge of the shock absorber business is an asset
  • Experience with direct customer interaction on a technical level
  • Understanding of customer requirements that are typical for suspension products is an asset
  • Knowledge of engineering software (simulation, design) and Project Management software is an asset
  • Strong Reasoning and Analytical capabilities
  • Fluent in English
  • Prepared to travel, worldwide, up to 25 % of your time
