About the Role: The Global Procurement team is looking for a Global Sourcing Category Leader for one of our Global locations in US, Europe or China. In this role, you will have responsibility for the long term success of supply and sourcing initiatives in Logistics to support effective and efficient supply chains. The key focus will be on leveraging our Logistics spend globally utilizing strategic sourcing, category management and supplier performance management processes and tools to deliver value. The Global Sourcing Category Leader for Logistics and Transportation with provide functional leadership to regional category leaders globally. In this role you will partner with associates in Procurement, Logistics Operations, Trade Compliance and Supply Chain to develop, recommend, and support Strategic Sourcing Plans, Supplier Selection, Contracting, Negotiation Plans, and Supplier Relationship Management activities to deliver value to the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing and executing fully integrated long-term strategic plans for the Logistics spend category working closely with the Global Logistics team to optimize the supplier network in alignment with the Enterprise Procurement organization
  • Being accountable for integration and standardization of procurement processes, policies and best practices into the Global Logistics organization
  • Driving effective Logistics Supplier Performance Management for the category together with the logistics team, including supplier business reviews, scorecards and compliance requirements
  • Creating, maintaining and owning business and professional relationships with strategic suppliers and industry players to influence their supply chain capabilities, efficiency, and effectiveness for Gore
  • Conducting new supplier assessments in partnership with Business and/or Functional resources
  • Understanding industry trends, the competitive environment and our internal performance to integrate benchmarking into sourcing strategies, supplier selections, negotiation plans, and other process &/or decision making
  • Owning or facilitating the negotiation and implementation of all global, country or regional contracts with new and existing logistics suppliers to mitigate risk, establish favorable commercial terms and maximize savings opportunities in support of the category strategy/management and in partnership with the business


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with a supply chain, logistics, business or engineering discipline OR five (5) years of logistics procurement experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years strategic procurement experience
  • Experience in leading a global category sourcing strategy, with a minimum of three (3) years working on global virtual teams with demonstrated results
  • Successful track record demonstrated by working in progressively challenging roles in sourcing and negotiations
  • Experience in the practical application and demonstrated success in both category management and supplier relationship management (i.e. creating and managing SLAs and KPIs)
  • Excellent verbal, written communication skills and demonstrated influencing and change management skills
  • Demonstrated skills in Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, and Data Analytics
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to:
  • Negotiate complex contracts
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups of people in a global, matrix organization
  • Ability to travel 25% domestically and internationally

  • Transportation – Freight Forwarding- Air, Ocean, Parcel, Regional Truckload, LTL
