OVERVIEW DESCRIPTION

The 70-plus team member Austin location of the NI Global Support and Services (GS&S) organization, a worldwide business unit with approximately 150 employees in 14 cities in 10 countries, seeks a Solution Specialist to support complex sales opportunities involving system integration and product modifications for NI’s largest and most strategic customers and targeted Industry and Application (IxA) areas.

In this leadership role, you will guide and assist with sales opportunities requiring the highest level of services from NI. You will collaborate with varying levels of NI and customer stakeholders, negotiate win/win approaches to complex situations, and develop and communicate a compelling value proposition for services specific to the opportunity. To be successful, you will work closely with external NI partners and NI leadership across a variety of business groups, including IxA areas, regional Sales, Integration Engineering Services (IES), R&D, Legal, Contracts, Accounting, Operations, and Manufacturing.

Core Responsibilities

  • · Engage with customers, partners, and NI leaders in Sales, Product Marketing, IxA Marketing, R&D, Legal, Contracts, Accounting, Operations, and Manufacturing on large and strategic opportunities

- Fulfill main sales contact role for integration and custom engineering project requests

- Develop and propose approaches that balance the needs of multiple stakeholders, so NI can capture the business

- Recommend project engagement models for qualified opportunities

- Collaborate with sales teams to assess and prioritize specific customer account and target IxA opportunities

  • · Qualify and drive the approval process for opportunities on

- Complex integrated systems

- Product modifications (e.g. Custom Engineering)

  • · Assert an objective, quantitative approach when estimating technical complexity, project scope, and financial cost for each opportunity
  • · Apply balanced judgement on business ROI, strategic value, and long-term business influence for NI business success
  • · Educate NI sales teams and other applicable groups on the GS&S opportunity qualification and approval processes
  • · Own and maintain pipeline for IES and Custom Engineering opportunities
  • · Work closely with applicable technical teams to develop/document initial assessment of risk and complexity for an opportunity
  • · Write content for and drive completion of sales proposals, statements of work, and other documents that facilitate closing business
  • · Manage successful transition of each opportunity from assessment and approval to project team for development phase
  • · Travel inside and outside of the U.S., including to East Asia, to fulfill job responsibilities

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • · Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, Systems, or Mechanical Engineering, or similar technical discipline
  • · Minimum five (5) years of experience with system integration projects in the test and measurement, semiconductor production test, or wireless test industries

Preferred Qualifications

  • · Direct exposure selling to and/or field engineering support of an NI enterprise or top account
  • · Direct experience defining and recommending specific configured solutions that are based on or include NI products and/or relevant industrial systems
  • · Experience managing or developing integrated systems/solutions
  • · Experience influencing and leading others while also working effectively as an individual contributor in a team environment
  • · Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to:

- Explain Global Support and Services goals and objectives to variety of audiences

- Understand and explain complex business concepts, anticipated and actual impacts, and tradeoffs

- Understand and communicate inputs from cross functional stakeholders including R&D, Legal, Contracts, Accounting, Manufacturing, and Product Marketing

- Effectively communicate across different leadership levels within NI, customers, and NI partners

- Communicate difficult business decisions while respectfully acknowledging others’ perspectives, goals, and objectives

- Develop and deliver effective presentations to key internal and external stakeholders
