As the Global Market Insights Lead, Neuroscience working in Global Product & Launch Strategy (GPLS), Takeda’s Global Commercial Strategy unit, you will be empowered to develop and integrate insights via forecasts, market research, and customer insights that will drive long-range commercial strategy and pipeline investment decisions. This includes consulting C-suite and BU leadership in assets of highest impact in corporate strategy, providing commercial voice to improve asset strategy in areas of highest complexity, including external partnerships, areas where no therapy is currently available, and fast-paced evaluations in M&A. POSITION OBJECTIVES:
The role works closely with New Product Leads (NPL, primary stakeholder), Global Product and Launch Strategy (GPLS), and Global Pricing and Access (GPA) in developing global product strategy.
This position will require expertise in primary market research (PMR) methods, pharmaceutical secondary market research resources/tools (SMR) forecasting (FC) models, competitive intelligence (CI) customer/business insight and analytics (BI&A) and drive global collaboration with varied team members in commercial assessments and R&D program strategic considerations. This role will build coherent and actionable narratives that drives strategy and investment decisions.
This role will partner with Takeda Therapeutic Area Heads (TAU), regional/Local Operating Companies (LOCs), and R&D Global Program Teams/Lead (GPT/GPL), Strategic Planning, Investor Relations, Finance and others to shape Takeda’s marketing and product development strategic direction and investments through integrated insights across all insights disciplines (PMR, SMR, FC, CI, BI&A), and bench strength-level expertise in all disciplines, as well as integration of insights for influence at the most senior levels. This position will be responsible for sharing best practices in these disciplines. The position requires high levels of competency in executing these disciplines for strategic early-stage decision making.
The position requires the ability to assess the clinical and commercial landscape and develop models that facilitate pipeline and portfolio strategic decision making. It requires the ability to frame commercial assessments for multi-stakeholder collaborative influence in the path to bringing the greatest value to market for patients.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
25% PARTNERSHIP, COLLABORATION AND CONSULTATIVE INFLUENCE
Serve as the Strategic Insight Partner for pipeline/portfolio strategic decisions.
Collaborate cross-functionally to influence TPP, Clinical Dev. Plan (CDP), market access strategy, patient engagement strategy, health economics, etc. with recommendations driven from integrated insights.
Translate business problems into insights deliverables to drive results in franchise objectives with consultative influence.
Advise senior executives as partners, help others on the team, utilize emotional intelligence and Takeda values (honesty, integrity, fairness, perseverance) in all communications.
20% SYNTHESIS AND RECOMMENDATION
Lead data synthesis across diverse data sources of this role’s remit (PMR, SMR, FC, CI, I&A) and other teams (Epidemiology, Patient Services, Medical Communications, Market Access, etc.) for cohesive, crisp points of view.
Lead multiple concurrent research projects into a synthesis for business demands across functions.
25% TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP
Lead functional expertise across all core disciplines (PMR, SMR, FC, CI, BI&A) for Global Neuroscience Business Unit. Drive new frameworks for monitoring, assessing and leveraging best practices in that core discipline to drive commercial assessments.
10% FORECASTING
Develop quantitative commercial valuations and forecast models using Excel
Lead timely global alignment on assumptions, orchestrating a clear view of strategic implications in value levers, risks and opportunities for clinical and commercial plans.
10% PRIMARY AND SECONDARY MARKET RESEARCH INSIGHTS AND ANALYTICS
Identify gaps and build stakeholder alignment with a multi-year insights roadmap for assets, including business needs, timelines, methods, and budget.
Lead integrated research programs to develop strategic recommendations for clinical product development & commercial priorities.
Leverage diverse Neuroscience secondary sources to build the objective point of view, which may challenge or build upon development plans.
10% PROJECT AND PROCESS MANAGEMENT
Ensure cost-efficient, timely operations, with strict compliance in all industry legal, ethical and regulatory requirements, as well as Takeda policy.
Identify process improvement opportunities, innovative methods and creative solutions
Cultivate preferred vendor relationships, drive vendor management strategies
EDUCATION, BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences, Marketing, Business Administration or related discipline
MBA/M.Sc./Pharm.D. preferred
Minimum 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, neuroscience experience preferred
Minimum 5+ years forecasting, market research, analytics and competitive intelligence in an international capacity in the pharmaceutical industry
Minimum 3 years analyzing large volumes of data from multiple sources using advanced tools and artificial intelligence-based platforms, choice modeling methods, etc.
Minimum 5 years developing quantitative commercial valuation models using Excel
Minimum 5 years leading concurrent research projects managing business demands across a range of functions, seniority, and geographies
Minimum 5 years developing strategic recommendations for clinical product development and early-stage commercial priorities
Strong understanding of pharmaceutical global market research, competitive intelligence process, methods, legal, ethical and regulatory requirements
Candidate should have a successful track record functioning in a matrix environment and delivering results in the areas of market research, product analytics and/or forecasting
Business development and/or marketing experience is preferred
Knowledge and Skills:

Manage ambiguity and create consensus in assumptions, commonly working in areas with little/no data, where pharmaceutical treatments do not currently exist.
Advanced user of Windows applications, modelling techniques, analytical tools and applications.
Strong knowledge of industry data sources, and syndicated analytics
