Job Description

Key Focus

  • Maintain a knowledge of the global business unit’s (GBU) market, including customers, competitors, applications, and various stakeholders
  • Plan, develop and implement communications and marketing strategies, both external and internal
  • Ensure articulation of GBU’s desired image and position to diverse stakeholders
  • Responsible for the achievement of communications/ marketing mission and goals of the GBU
  • Serve as primary media contact for GBU – proactive, reactive and crisis


  • Creating, implementing and measuring the success of a comprehensive communications and marketing program that will enhance GBU’s image and position within the marketplace, the general public and internally
  • Ensure consistent communication of image and position to all constituencies, both external and internal
  • Monitor issues, trends, news and social media conversations and react/respond appropriately with ideas and strategies
  • Work closely with government and regulatory affairs team to understand critical regulatory and legislative issues and opportunities, and effectively message and communicate the business unit’s position to stakeholders
  • Lead projects as assigned, such as cause-related marketing and special events
  • Pitch story ideas and press releases to traditional and trade media; deliver earned media opportunities to enhance market position
  • Leverage social mediachannels to tell the GBU’s story
  • Serve as primary media and communications contact and coach for global business unit and leaders
  • Manage crisis communications for global business unit
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date marketing collateral, including digital, website, intranet, technical data sheets, market intelligence bulletins and other print materials
  • Work hand-in-hand with events team to position business effectively at tradeevents
  • Project management responsibilities include identifying all functional areas needed to launch any company initiative as well as creating, maintaining, communicating, and executing an end-to-end program launch plan
  • Develop presentations for Town Hall meetings
  • Collect feedback from stakeholders (internal and external)
  • Oversee GBU intranet branding and messaging
  • Recommend short- and long-term goals and objectives to the Senior Communications Director
  • Provide strategic communications counsel to Business Unit senior leaders
  • Manage PR agency relationships to ensure highest level of performance and results
  • Create comprehensive communications andsocial mediastrategy and tactics

  • Bachelor's Degree in English, Communications, Journalism or Marketing, MBA preferred
  • 5 – 7 years work experience in a similar role required 
  • Internal communications, media relations and key message development experiencerequired 
  • Must be well versed in how traditional and social mediachannels work
  • Crisis communications experience is a must 
  • Excellent communication and project management skills

The Global Communications Manager will drive branding initiatives for internal and external audiences and will establish and exploit new communications platforms including a new external web presence, use of social media as appropriate and new internal communications tools.

The position will be responsible for building and getting approval for a budget, managing spending to stay within budget, frequent communication with internal customers, prioritization of projects, and execution against agreed milestones.

The Global Communications Manager will create a focused media campaing to establish the company's exectutives and seniorl level managers/business leaders as subject matter experts with news organizations, appropriated associations, NGO's etc...
