seeking a Geotechnical Engineer (@ 5-10 yrs experience) for our Wethersfield, CT office.

The main focus of this role will be collaborating with our Structural/Bridge Design Teams regarding (transportation-related) Bridge Design, Construction Engineering, and Temporary Construction Structures (bridges and earth retaining structures) with respect to Geotechnical Engineering topics.

Job Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Actively manage a variety of projects from initial scope and proposal development through project execution and close out, with demonstrated skill in project scope development, budgeting, and scheduling;
  • Possess strong technical skills in multiple areas including soil/rock classification, slope stability analysis, earth retention-systems, shallow and deep foundation design, and earthquake engineering;
  • Review of foundation plans and grading plans for conformance with geotechnical engineering investigation reports;
  • Collaborating with various other consultants including Civil Engineers, Structural Engineers, and Construction Managers;
  • Executing geotechnical engineering projects from start to finish;
  • Assist with preparing proposals for geotechnical engineering services;
  • Coordinating/managing field investigations;
  • Research, engineering analysis and preparation of geotechnical engineering reports;
  • Understanding and working familiarity with computer programs, geotechnical engineering software and databases as required;

Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer, PE
  • BS in Civil Engineering required; MS with a Geotechnical Engineering focus strongly preferred
  • Educational emphasis on Soils Mechanics, Foundations, Geotechnical Engineering and Civil Engineering
  • Experience leading geotechnical engineering efforts on traditional design bid build and design built transportation projects required, experience on a significant bridge-related projects preferred
  • Professional-level written, and oral communications skills are necessary
