Job SummaryThe position will coordinate and complete project testing services by applying knowledge of engineering principles and practices to specific problems. Secure significant work and provide supervision and technical expertise in special engineering projects requiring advanced knowledge of Geotechnical practices and applicable foundation recommendations. A fully competent professional in all conventional aspects. Independently performs most assignments. Perform specific marketing duties and implements established marketing goals for the department and company.

- Perform and/or supervise testing, investigations, and evaluations. Focus especially on projects with a higher degree of difficulty.
- Manage medium-to large- scope and/or medium- to large-risk projects from proposal to completion.
- Prepare formal engineering reports, including recommendations.
- Lead inter-office and/or inter-department project teams.
- Coordinate and assign staff to perform testing and other services.
- Critically review, edit, and sign technical reports and correspondence of other staff.
- Maintain current working knowledge of applicable regulations, policies, procedures and technologies in designated field(s).
- Prepare proposals and perform marketing duties to meet established department and company goals.
- Assist in coaching and training junior staff and perform critical performance appraisals of Technicians and lower level engineers and geologists.
- Ability to anticipate, recognize, and manage risk/liability while working on projects.
Supervisory ResponsibilityThis role will have direct responsible for ensuring deadlines and performance standards are met by coaching and counseling associates, organizing and evaluating work flow and results along with implementing policies and procedures those that directly report this role. Also, may provide work direction to field engineers, technicians, and drillers.
Qualifications and Education Requirements- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or applicable field with 5 or more years of related experience, OR; Advanced degree in applicable field with 3 or more years of related experience.
- Professional registration with one or more state licensing board.
- Knowledge of fundamental engineering or scientific principles within pavement and geotechnical areas and ability to apply that knowledge to the job.
- Communication skills sufficient to convey complex technical information in a clear manner to diverse audiences.
- Maintain valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Preferred Skills- Ability to develop and implement creative/innovative solutions to a wide range of problems.
- Advanced experience using personal computer software, especially Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated skill in cultivating and managing external relationships (with clients, prospects, professional associations, etc.) to generate business development opportunities for self and others.
- Strong interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, and flexibility to work effectively with coworkers and clients.
- Ability to interact successfully with a wide variety of people, work effectively within project teams, resolve issues and problems in a constructive manner, and work independently in the field.
- Excellent communication skills
- Skill in reviewing contract terms and conditions and making recommendations for final review by company officer.
- Willingness to travel and periodically adjust personal schedules to meet project and client needs.
- Ability to work at environmental remediation, industrial and construction sites and perform field work including, but not limited to, collecting samples, operating field instruments, following procedures, planning, organizing and arranging logistics for the job, and documenting field activities and data collected.
Work EnvironmentThis job primarily operates in a professional office environment. This position also may require field work in outdoor conditions on construction sites with uneven ground and adverse weather conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
