Summary of Role

This role is responsible for directing and managing the business development and profitable growth of Organic Logistics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Organic Valley/CROOP Cooperative that provides transportation, warehouse and other logistics services to the temperature controlled food manufacturing industry. Additionally, this role will direct and manage the strategic and tactical elements of the business including but not limited to strategic planning, sales planning, executive account maintenance, pricing programs, staff development, business process development, systems applications, fiscal planning and risk management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

o Develops and implements the overall business strategy and plan

o Accountable for financial and service results

o Manages and identifies business risk

o Creates and presents information to the Organic Logistics Board of Directors and other parts of the business as required and needed

o Creates and implements optimal organizational structure to meet the business strategy

o Develops and mentors staff

o Prepares and presents annual budget

o Directs and manages sales and marketing efforts

o Identifies, negotiates and contracts with customers and supply chain solution providers to maximize value and enable an executable sustainable and scalable operations platform.

o Ensures departmental compliance with CROPP Cooperative policies; establishes and communicates department expectations and objectives

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

o Financial analytics to support business decisions

o Represents Organic Logistics to the rest of the business and stakeholders

o Frequently attends meetings and interacts with all areas of the Coop

o Participates on cross functional teams

o Participates and provides insights and support for entire Supply Chain

o Works and cooperates with peers in Supply Chain and other areas of the business to find optimal solutions for Organic Logistics and the Coop in total

o Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

o Minimum of 10 years' experience with complex supply chain systems and operations

o Business planning and general management experience

o Expert knowledge of perishable food distribution

o Strong financial acumen

o Proven record of budget development and responsibility

o Effective coach and team builder

o Ability to solve problems and work cross functionally

o Experience with ERP, TMS, WMS and Accounting systems

o Experience writing and negotiating contracts with supply chain vendors

o Critical thinking and decision making skills; able to make effective decisions among broadly variable conditions

o Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines

o Ability to effectively present and report to all levels of the organization

o Highly developed verbal and written communication skills

o Cooperates and works with other areas of the business

o Will operate within the mission and value system of CROPP Cooperative .
