The Opportunity:

The General Manager will be responsible for the safe operations and performance of 2 locations. This role is accountable for the daily operation of the manufacturing process and the implementation and maintenance of operational excellence strategies. The initial focus will be centered on the team, , ensuring all processes are running safely, effectively and efficiently.. Long term focus will migrate to the implementation of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement philosophies, providing long term cost reductions and improving plant efficiency and profitability

A snap shot of some of the exciting things you will do:

  • Manage the business based upon financial and non-financial key performance indicators through adherence to short term and long term business plans
  • Strategic, operational thinker who can analyze processes, enacts change, and engage others to achieve business goals
  • Promotes harmonious employee relations by having preemptive conversations in advance of issues surfacing
  • Develop employees through training and coaching, providing clear roles, and consistent support and feedback for all employees
  • Can anticipate the needs of customers and proactively partner to create different solutions
  • Shall demonstrate full commitment to the implementation of the requirements of the Global Standard for Food Safety and to processes which facilitate continual improvement of food safety and quality management.

What you will bring:

  • Progressive operations leadership experience in a world class manufacturing environment; food related experience is a must
  • Delivering operational and customer service excellence
  • Ability to attract, develop, motivate and retain top talent
  • Highly developed business acumen honed through experience in dealing with complex operational issues (i.e. plant expansions, product alignments,
  • Lean/Six Sigma or equivalent experience
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to influence and impact others at various levels within the organization to achieve results
  • A thorough understanding of JIT manufacturing and applicable food safety & quality standards
  • Builds organizational capability by encouraging autonomy, cross training & succession planning
  • Post-secondary education in a related field
