Responsibilities

The General Manager of the Enterprise Ground and Launch Division leads an organization of engineers providing technical expertise and critical recommendations to the Air Force Space Command's Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) Enterprise Ground and Launch Enterprise customers to achieve mission success in the areas of enterprise ground services, and launch base processing and operations.   Responsibilities include working directly with senior SMC leadership, advising and assisting them in the standup of the new (emerging) SMC enterprise ground organization, with focus on enterprise ground architecture planning, acquisition strategy, and development and deployment of common infrastructure, mission networks, warfighter integration, and defensive cybersecurity. Support is also provided to customer components located at the Centralized Integration Support Facility (CISF), Peterson AFB, CO.   The General Manager is also responsible for managing the corporate regional offices at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida and Vandenberg Air Force Base, California, and providing support to the 45th and 30th Space Wing customers in the areas of launch and satellite processing, as well as synergistic support to Missile Defense Agency mission assurance activities.  The General Manager will also be responsible for establishing the technical operating plans, managing STE allocation and funding, overseeing the quality of technical products, strategic planning, goals and objective setting, maintaining an integrated risk posture for each program, tracking external developments that may impact the mission area, and staff planning and development.

 

Key Functions

  • Aerospace lead for the technical operating plans, budget control, staffing, succession planning, workforce needs, personnel development, customer interaction, and technical positions
  • Develop the division objectives and strategy consistent with the corporate goals and initiatives, customer expectations, and provide direction and planning for achieving strategic goals
  • Work with the customer to define high value scope of work, translate customer technical operating plans into technical priorities, manage budget constraints, plan and execute staffing as required
  • Position Aerospace in the highest value functions across the program
  • Maintain division focus on mission assurance from cradle to grave across the portfolio
  • Support the development, implementation, and execution of program acquisition strategies
  • Work with Launch Operations Division and Launch Systems Division to provide integration and coordination of Aerospace support to launch base processing issues
  • Actively participate in customer senior decision forums across the portfolio
  • Anticipate the customer’s future needs and create an agile work force that can respond
  • Set the organization structure, guide staffing, develop and grow the management team
  • Provide leadership for setting goals and direction, mentoring, providing critical feedback, and coaching aimed at developing an agile technical staff and staff development

 

Qualifications

Required

  • Current SCI access
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience with assuring space mission success and launch and ground system development and acquisition support
  • Bachelor’s degree in technical subject area
  • Demonstrated management skills across budget, staff development, planning, and customer accounts
  • Demonstrated ability to lead integrated multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills for interactions at all levels
  • Strong customer communication skills required to effectively engage customers and build a trusted relationship
  • Demonstrated executive leadership and strategic planning skills
  • Moderate travel

 

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in technical subject area
  • Experience with enterprise ground systems engineering and architecting
  • Experience with launch vehicle and satellite processing
  • Experience with the Air Force Satellite Control Network, and Launch and Test Range Systems
  • Knowledge of mission assurance processes
  • Experience with major system acquisitions
  • Experience with telemetry acquisition and processing systems
