The General Manager is the site leader who inspires, directs, and guides the organization to achieve KPI objectives and to meet Division, Group and Shareholder's expectations. The General Manager will lead various functional teams in developing and deploying an effective business strategy and ensuring organizational alignment. Provides strong leadership with a heavy emphasis on customer experience excellence, systems and process innovation, sales growth, and outstanding operational performance. Sets and nurtures a culture resulting in the highest levels of customer and employee satisfaction and engagement.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Recognizes, recommends and implements changes in business and strategy to promote growth in sales, profit and cash flow. Leads strategic policy deployment.

  • Leads activities in Operational excellence working closely with all functional areas and locations as well as Division Chief Operating Officer (COO) to ensure compliance with Division requirements.

  • Works closely with Product Management leadership to ensure skills, resources, and schedules support product roadmaps by flexible capacity and highest quality to optimize brand performance in the market.

  • Responsible for P&L performance of the EMS brands, working closely with sub-group and Division sales to ensure operational performance supports customer needs and continued growth.

  • Ensures compliance with Company standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, OSHA regulations, safety, environmental responsibility, inventory management, and Company employment policies / guidelines including the Code of Conduct.

  • Hires, develops and inspires leaders to be customer advocates capable of carrying out organization strategies and setting a culture of continuous improvement, employee empowerment, and servant leadership. Assesses and builds diverse leadership bench-strength and organizational capabilities to support a collaborative, high-performance work environment.

  • Identifies cost effective systems of control over capital, expenditures and work force.

  • Develop site plan for integration of acquired locations and/or personnel as required. Visit potential acquisitions upon request.

  • Senior Management is accountable for the effectiveness of the Quality and Environmental management system and ensuring the systems conform to ISO 9001 & 14001.

  • Travel requirement is up to 30%


Supervisory Responsibilities

Directs site operations functions including production, supply management, facilities, engineering and customer service. Directs local HR and finance in coordination with group management. Functional reporting and personnel may be adjusted during the course of employment for business efficiencies.

Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of business units. Performs supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training and terminating employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Language Ability

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents in English. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style in English. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Mathematical Ability

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills

Possess a strong proficiency in the use and application of MS Office applications, database analysis, business intelligence systems, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and ERP software.

Other Skills

Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Physical Demands

Education and/or Experience:

  • BS/BA

    degree in engineering, business, operations, or equivalent; MBA strongly preferred

  • 10+ Years of experience

    as a senior Operations, Engineering or equivalent leader in midsized company in a manufacturing environment. 20+ years of Operations, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

  • Must be self-directed, well organized and have good follow-up skills

  • Excellent presentation, written and oral communication skills

  • Strong leadership capabilities and interpersonal skills

  • Solid analytical skills including high proficiency in MS Office applications

  • Strong knowledge of Manufacturing Executive Systems (MES) and ERP capability, JDE is a plus.
