GENERAL OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIESWhile it’s not expected that you will know our business at the outset, we do expect you to grasp new concepts quickly, work well with people, and bring an attitude of focused dedication and a drive to get things right.As General Manager, you will balance being the external face of CIC with responsibility for all of the day-to-day workings of our center while leading a bright team of staff.Responsibilities related to internal and external relations:• growing and supporting the Providence entrepreneurial ecosystem by creating and nurturing relationships with local entrepreneurs and community leaders through partnership building with key allies, networking, speaking engagements, committee and board participation• finding creative ways CIC can support and amplify the good work that is already happening in the local ecosystem and helping recruit other innovation-supporting organizations and infrastructure to the city (e.g. teaching programs, accelerators, shared facilities, venture funds) and spurring collaboration and goodwill throughout the ecosystem• leading the partnership efforts between CIC and our local and real estate partners, creating an “all-for-one” environment that understands the balance between protecting CIC’s assets and being a true community partner• developing relationships with CIC clients, making sure they’re happy with CIC and connected to the innovation ecosystem both locally and globallyResponsibilities related to people management and operations:• effectively building and managing both operations and sales teams, and helping individuals grow professionally• managing the overall budget for the center, including setting revenue targets, managing costs, taking corrective actions when necessary, and reporting progress back to CIC central office• learning the many internal systems. It is important that you become familiar with the processes your team will be using to manage the day to day so you can train and lead others as well as assist as needed (such as issuing a key to a new client)• communicating (for example, sending weekly written updates to senior teams) and coordinating across teams within CIC Providence, as well as across departments company wide• being the champion of CIC guidelines and philosophies, as well as the primary advocate for CIC Providence’s staff and clients alike• reporting on evaluative data in a number of areas, including client satisfaction and business performance• prioritizing exceptional customer service
REQUIREMENTS• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience• 10+ years of professional experience• A natural interest in helping/supporting others• Versatility to make things work, flexibility to embrace ambiguity, resiliency for when things are tough, creativity to produce new ideas, comfortability with experimentation and failure, vulnerability to ask for help, stoicism to lead a team when feeling stressed, high ethical values, comfortable leading all age groups and professional levels
EXPECTATIONS• Frequent attendance at innovation community gatherings across Providence, after regular business hours and occasional weekends• Some travel to other CIC locations• Ability to travel extensively (primarily to our Boston/Cambridge offices) during initial months for training purposes

Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes 100% of the cost of a premium healthcare and dental package for candidate and immediate family and full payment of expenses covered by your deductible, long and short-term disability, life insurance, 401k matching after the first year of employment (must be 21+) and holidays plus three weeks of vacation from the start (more with seniority). Annual reviews with raises every year for those on track with strong performance.
