Summary:

Encore Semi is growing our Functional Safety (FuSa) Engineering Center of Expertise and is looking for FuSa Engineering and Design experts to drive this growth.  While FuSa is a critical element in products for many market segments, Encore Semi CoE is focused primarily at collaborating with customers targeting Automotive silicon designs.  This team is led by an Industry expert and contributor to the ISO 26262 standard; and comprised of other expert engineers that are working jointly with customers on next generation designs.  Joining this team enables you to focus on all aspects of designs for Automotive systems – HW and SW architecture definition; SOC / IP / Embedded Controller designs.  Join the Encore Semi FuSa Engineering team to be on the forefront of definition, design and methodology in this exciting and fast-growing field.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities/Functions/Tasks:

Members of Encore Semi FuSa CoE would be responsible for collaborating with a variety of design services across all phases of the Development Cycle (Definition, Design and Verification) to create compliant ISO 26262 designs.  As a lead, you will participate from the Functional Safety Concept and Technical Safety Concept of IP / SOC / System through design and verification for next-gen products.  As part of your role, you would propose and analyze safety architecture and mechanisms, in both hardware and software, to implement as part of the overall design.  During the Safety Documentation phase you will collaborate with the customer teams to implement processes and procedures and document the design elements required for Safety certifications as well as instilling in the customer teams a “Safety Culture”.

Minimum Qualifications:

• An experienced architect with strong hardware, software and technical leadership skills.  Experience in conducting in-depth analysis of failure modes, error detection and error reporting functionality; and resolving architecture issues found in design and verification.
• Worked in or with SOC development teams, preferably using ARM/AMBA architecture, to balance hardware safety mechanism versus software and system mechanisms and requirements to deliver overall system safety goals at an optimal cost.  Understand and have experience applying ASIL decomposition strategies to achieve safety goals.
• Leading and contributing to the development of functional safety architectures for the automotive market; working closely with customers to design credible workaround when required.  Able to architect key capabilities necessary to enable optimal solutions -- applying hardware and software redundancy techniques to mitigate hardware and software faults.
• Experience analyzing existing safety mechanisms with HW/SW design teams as well as proposing new mechanisms or strategies to either existing or new designs based on structured safety analysis.
• An expert in system functional safety with hardware designs and experience with ISO 26262 (or other applicable safety standards from other market segments such as IEC 61508, EN 50128, IEC 62304, ISO 60601, DO-254)
• Experience with safety analysis for IP / SOC / ECU / MCU design including the development of FMEDA analyses, FIT estimations, DFA and DIA creation.
• BSEE (or equivalent) required and 10+ years of experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• SOC, or possibly IP, architecture / microarchitecture development experience, preferably in an ARM / AMBA context, including Logic and RTL Design experience which will be valuable to propose and implement new safety mechanisms.
• Experience putting design methodologies in place which enable the entire design team to contribute to the safety analysis and design or verification elements required for documentation of safe designs – experience instilling a “safety culture” across a design organization.
• MSEE (or equivalent) preferred
• Experience with ANSYS Medini Analyze tool
