Position Summary

Bridgewater, the largest hedge fund in the world, is expanding its unique approach for understanding markets to new domains. Dave Ferrucci, the creator of IBM’s Watson, is leading a Collaborative Intelligent Systems Lab. We are building a suite of tools to shape how work is done in which everyone contributes criteria for good decision making. These tools are designed to help us achieve our goals of 1) learning what people are like, 2) sharing what people are like, 3) providing personalized training and development, 4) offering guidance and oversight in specific situations, and 5) ) helping managers align people into the right roles based on what they are like and what is required. An example is our Dot Collector app used in meetings that allows people to express their thoughts and see others’ thoughts in real time, and then helps them collectively reach an idea-meritocratic decision. It surfaces people’s thinking, analyzes it, and uses the information to help people make better real-time decisions. We are at an inflection point because it is our intention to share many of these applications with the world.
