The Freight Manager is responsible for effectively managing all operations within the freight department. This includes order management, customer service, payload efficiencies, equipment maintenance and driver management and administration, including hiring decisions and driverqualification. This position requires the flexibility to work 40+ hours per week and weekends as required. The Freight Manager reports directly to the Plant Manager and has an indirect reporting relationship with the Regional Logistics Manager.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

Practice proper PPE compliance and maintain a safe working record and environment

Manage operations to meet or exceed budget targets

Immediately communicate unsafe conditions, acts or injuries to the Plant Manager

Effectively schedule and plan loads to ensure maximum payload efficiencies

Provide excellent customer service; meet or exceed expectations daily

Manage driver administration (selection, hiring, training, performance evaluations and discipline)

Maintain proper communication with customers and CSR?s

Conduct accident investigations with Plant Manager

Manage fleet maintenance, repairs and safety inspections

Conduct and facilitate quarterly and monthly freight safety meetings

Ensure compliance with company and Plant policies

Understand and practice ADS CORE VALUES

Maintain and build job skills through company training programs

Job Skills:

Strong leadership, interpersonal and team building skills

Understanding of the complexity of dispatching loads

Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal DOT regulations and freight issues

Courteous/friendly/positive representation of ADS

Familiarity with all ADS products

Effective written and oral communication skills

Intermediate computer skills (MS Office)

Strong organization and multi-tasking skills

Educational Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Commercial Driver Training preferred

College degreepreferred

State and Federal DOT compliance training

Preferred Experience:

Previous CDL holder and OTR experience

Previous customer service experience

Physical Requirements:

Employee will be lifting heavy objects and must have the ability to lift 25 pounds

Employee will be sitting for a specified amount of time and must have the ability to sit at a minimum for 8 hours
