Role Summary: Provide strategic management of financial planning and analysis (FP&A) for the North American Life and Health (NALH) business. Responsible for strategic management and execution of all FP&A and reporting activities. Function as a senior member of NALH Finance team.
Essential Responsibilities: Direct the strategy and execution of FP&A processes and provide financial leadership at a functional and business unit level.Actively participate in the quarterly financial closing and reporting processes and prepare financial projections for key planning sessions. Provide analytical leadership regarding the evaluation of business performance and the identification of future risk and opportunities.Develop short-range outlook forecasts and plan to achieve all business goals such as net income and expense targets.Analyze variances and trends to determine changes in key business metrics vs. expectations.Provide timely financial updates to the NALH and GE Capital leadership teams.Provide critical performance analysis of business results in support of plan assumptions and demonstrated cost reductions and strategic business shifts as necessary.Prepare quarterly updates to financial forecasts with comparison to plan.Develop the process for identifying and articulating risks and opportunities relevant to the forecast period and explain drivers.Drive continuous improvements in the financial reporting packages that are provided to the senior leadership team for monthly and quarterly results.Maintain regulatory awareness: drive compliance and support regulatory initiatives as applicable.Provide leadership and continue to develop team members Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting.Minimum 8 years of finance experience preferably in the insurance/reinsurance industry.Understanding and experience working with the insurance business model and investment management.Leadership experience with senior management interaction.Proven project management and coordination experience.Strong leadership skills and ability to lead change.Experience managing direct reports.Proficient use of financial systems and analysis tools including Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Desired Characteristics: Demonstrated oral and written communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate at all levels across the business.Master's degree, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent certification.GE Financial Management Program (FMP) and/or GE Corporate Audit Staff (CAS) graduate.Energetic approach to work, passion for continuous improvement, change agent.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities.Experience leading cross-functional teams.Leadership experience and ability to motivate teams and work across all functions.
