This program management position leads a cross functional team that creates, designs and develops firmware for HP Business Desktops and Notebooks. The main objective of this position is to lead planning and execution of firmware development projects. The qualified candidate will also communicate plans and status to senior leadership. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Tracking and reporting program risks, issues and status to senior management
  • Coordinating activities across software teams, firmware teams and other functional teams

Description

The Firmware Program Manager is responsible for leading a matrix team through the engineering development process for business notebook and desktop PCs. As an Engineering Program Manager, you will:

  • Use Agile Principles to deliver firmware innovations for business notebooks and desktop PCs
  • Develop and/or direct development of schedules, critical deliverables, resource allocation plan and other support requirements for firmware innovations
  • Become a subject matter expert on the firmware features that your cross functional team delivers
  • Manage activities of supporting project teams and internal development partners; ensures progress against established plan and make determinations based on analysis of business information to alter or update schedule and resource allocation to meet product requirements and development schedule
  • Communicate program progress, escalations and issue analysis to product stakeholders; collaborates with management, hardware engineering, manufacturing and development partners to recommend and implement changes to product, processes, or business practices
  • Drive innovation and integration of new technologies and quality initiatives into projects and activities in the manufacturing and/or engineering organization
  • Leads and provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Sciences or equivalent
  • Agile team experience required
  • PMP certification preferred
  • Minimum 4-6 years' experience
  • Knowledge and skills
  • Self-starter, able to lead and influence a diverse team and can work effectively across cultural and time zone boundaries
  • Strong organization skills
  • Experience delivering complex software programs using Agile Principles
  • Experience with firmware development is a plus
  • Ability to work complex projects while identifying and resolving problems independently or as a contributing team member
  • Experience with using MS DevOps and program planning tools and software packages to create, manage, and track project results
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating and directing matrixed teams and resources
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language
  • Ability to effectively communicate program plans, proposals, and results and negotiate options at senior management levels
