We are searching for an individual with 10+ years of payrolltaxexperience to join the Tax team in our Chicago office. The ideal candidate needs to be a self-starting team player and possess the ability to multitask in a fast-paced, exciting environment.

The candidatereports to the Director of Payroll Operations, and will be primarily responsible for the ownership of an entity’s payrolltax. This position is responsible for end-to-end cycle including payrolltax deposits, preparation and/or review of payrolltax compliance and return filings, reconciliations of payrolltax accounts, payrolltaxaudit assistance and accounting and reconciliations for financial statement reporting. Payroll tax reporting responsibilities

  • Accurate and timely review and delivery of federal, state and local payrolltax deposits
  • Prepare/review, and submit federal, state and local withholding tax returns
  • Prepare/review, and submit non-US payrolltax returns and deposits Federal and state unemployment compensation quarterly payments and returns
  • Unemployment rate notice management in conjunction with third party provider
  • ACH payment and e-filing registrations and utilization (wage uploads) of e-filing programs and payment systems
  • Tax authority correspondence and fielding of payrolltax compliance inquiries
  • Year-end processing, including but not limited to W-2 and 1099 reconciliations and annual payrolltax filings
  • Year-end processing of certain non-US payrolltax information returns (Canada and Puerto Rico)
  • Preparation and submission of amended payrolltax returns related to W-2C’s or otherrequired adjustments or amendments (state withholding/SUTA amendments)

Miscellaneous business tax reporting responsibilities

  • Preparation and/or review of business tax returns such as: Nevada MBT, Ohio CAT, certain LLC/Business License filings, CA Environmental Fee, Disability and Workers Compensation returns
  • Review, investigate and provide proposed options for process improvements
  • Liaise with team members of other departments and external resources (accounting, core payroll, quality and assurance) to resolve payrolltax related issues or problems
  • Review returns and reconciliations prepared by staff
  • Provide coaching and guidance to payrolltax matters to payroll team members, payroll operations team members and talent managers
  • Stay current on compliance law changes
  • Help develop an enhanced internal control structure for the function
