In this role, you will lead our work on financing U.S. school bus electrification to address financing strategies, capturing future cost savings, leveraging available funding sources, and developing new business models and procurement approaches to enable school bus deployment at scale. Your role will consist of leading educational activities for school districts and key stakeholders to identify and help replicate viable financing solutions for school bus electrification. This will involve developing replicable financing models, preparing educational resources, delivering presentations at industry conferences and events, and engaging directly with school districts and key stakeholders to help address financing barriers. It will also involve engaging with financial industry representatives to facilitate new financing approaches, business models, and procurement strategies to enable electric school bus adoption.
Specifically, you will identify replicable financing models, identify barriers and solutions, and design an action plan for scaling best practices. You will manage a team of contractors and partner organizations to achieve these goals. An ideal candidate will have an understanding of and experience working with school districts, especially as it relates to bus procurement and financing. Knowledge and/or experience with (school) bus electrification projects is a plus. Further, a candidate should have experience engaging with financial institutions, public finance, green banks, and related industry stakeholders as well as deep knowledge of transportation electrification, renewables, and clean energy deployment.
An understanding of use of batteries for disaster recovery, renewables integration, and vehicle to grid/building applications is a plus. In addition to working on electrifying school buses, you will provide expert support to the US Energy team on innovative financing strategies to help advance electric sector decarbonization, develop new products to enable cities and other large energy users to meet their clean energy targets, equitable access to clean energy, and deploy clean energy technologies in the electric sector. Understanding of renewables and other clean energy technologies is desired. You will support other team projects and proposals, such as providing technical assistance, authoring research papers and blogs, and communicating research findings to internal and external audiences.
