ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 


• Serve as the Surgical Innovation R&D finance leader by partnering effectively with senior leadership across the organization, establishing financial objectives, developing plans and business decision support to meet those objectives.  • Develop and manage the finance team to ensure appropriate and timely interpretation and analysis of actual financial performance versus plan or forecast, providing variance analyses and actively researching root causes of variances.  • Work closely with the SI R&D leadership and business unit to understand trends and provide business decision support to support key strategic and tactical decisions.  • Manage the monthly/quarterly/annual close, forecast and annual planning process for the SI R&D organization.  Through hands-on involvement completes the periodic P&L journal entries, reconciliations and forecasts including the detailed operating budget for the business and capital expenditures.• Deliver timely and accurate monthly forecasting (latest estimates) of operating and capital expenses and the appropriate financial projections and metrics (Enrich, R&D Innovation and capital) that support investments.• Completes periodic financial reporting packages internal to the business units and for the GBU and for Corporate on a regular and ad-hoc basis.• Monitor spending plans for R&D including actual versus budget analysis.  Communicate trends and develop actionable recommendations with management.• Manage financial components of the Product Development system.  Align with and provide business decision support for the respective business partners and committees (Investment Committee, PMT and PDT) to achieve new product development goals and objectives.• Organize and structure business information to identify specific risks and opportunities. Apply quantitative and qualitative skills and business experience to arrive at meaningful conclusions and recommendations. Develop options and solutions when issues arise.• Support the SI leadership team through the strategic planning process and other ad hoc projects• Provide strategic input, model financials and collaboration across the organization for technology license agreements, acquisitions and other business development activities as needed. Play a strategic advisory role in identifying external opportunities and targets along with the SI Finance LT. Responsible for due diligence and integration of any R&D operations/investment as wells as lead all implementation projects and post investment performance tracking.• Engage in AOP development and communication for the business unit and Specialty teams.• Attracting, developing, and retaining Finance talent to support the business operations.• Other related duties may include but are not limited to:  Operational Excellence, special projects, Sarbanes-Oxley, etc.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:


• Bachelor's degree• 10+ years related experience with special focus on global R&D or operations organizations• 10+ Years of financial analysis and/or accounting related experience• Broad knowledge of analysis and business planning concepts and methods, in addition to various accounting and finance disciplines, cost, budgets and general accounting. • Must have understanding of finance in the areas of marketing, R&D/product development, and acquisitions and apply to business strategy• Ability to develop complex financial models, identify key issues, convey results and propose alternatives to financial and non-financial managers in a concise manner.   Strong communication, presentation skills and ability to work across a global matrix organization.• In-depth knowledge of the business and its products.
