POSITION PURPOSE

Performs a leadership advisory role assisting System Office and RHM management teams and colleagues in identification, definition, analysis and support of assigned programs, projects and/or initiatives to achieve optimal outcomes.  Responsible for ongoing support of the ERP Finance applications for the System Office and the RHMs.   Serves as an expert in all facets of the ERP Finance modules, system development life cycle (SDLC), and resource for on-going knowledge transfer and problem resolution.  Participates in the development and execution of the Finance strategic plan and is responsible for any future upgrades and/or implementations.  Serves as a mentor and project lead providing guidance to less experienced staff members. 

Establishes and maintains a collaborative relationship with end users providing operational and functional knowledge supporting the development of new/improved capabilities and translating business requirements to functional requirements. Possesses an extensive understanding of the business operation in order to analyze finance work flow and recommend alternate approaches in developing process improvement. Serves in a leadership role providing direction to other team members integrating possible solutions across operational/functional areas; works with enterprise applications  and users that may be deployed across multiple RHMs and geographic locations. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Works with the System Office Financial Reporting team on ongoing central maintenance of the General Ledger Chart of Accounts, Department structure, Entity structure, Patient Accounting Interface table maintenance, Project Costing and Grants build, and miscellaneous financial applications.

Serves as a liaison between the end users and the technical support staff. Consults with executives and management at all levels to provide support for decisions, workflows, new initiatives and others duties as assigned.

Provides specialized guidance to end users defining business problems/issues and desired outcomes.  Develops recommendations on alternative approaches and possible opportunities, while determining impact and long-term viability of solutions. Recommends innovative application solutions to product workflow, productivity and financial problems. 

Monitors and provides support to team members in resolving issues and meeting project deadlines.  Serves as project manager by mentoring and providing guidance to less experienced team members, internal colleagues and external clients, which may include training, delegating tasks, providing guidance on methodologies, processes, standards and best practices.

Participates  in the preparation of legacy data for data conversion as required. Provides critical analysis of data to support assigned program, project and/or engagement and articulates same to colleagues, customers, business owners and all levels of management as required.

Troubleshoots and analyzes application functionality issues.  Interfaces with technical application staff and/or vendors to resolve system or application problems. Research and respond to customer issues (i.e., break/fix).

Guides and contributes to the corporate, TIS, departmental and RHM development of program and project deliverables to align with corporate strategy.

Provides specialized guidance as required for integration, architectures, system selection, strategy, and financial records.

Researches and contributes to recommendations into timing of introduction of new functionality.  Supports upgrade design process and decision-making. Participate in the evaluation, testing and implementation process of any patches and/or upgrades involving the ERP Finance modules.

Provides assistance in development and maintenance of the strategic plan as it relates to the ERP Finance modules. Assists with the design and implementation of all ERP Finance initiatives that develop out of the strategic plan.

Investigates issues identified by TIS and site personnel. Validates impact. Supports Trinity Health management to prioritize vendor, TIS and business process issues.  Defines issues and recommends solutions.

Prepares or participates in the preparation of detailed project work plans and project status reports. Leads existing and newly acquired RHM users through the gap analysis process, ERP Finance application exploration, Preliminary Testing, System Integration Testing, end user training, go-live preparation and post go live support. Works closely with the Director, Financial Applications to resolve business and design issues.

Works with RHM users to analyze business requirements, software capabilities and recommend solutions for system issues, while improving business processes and needs. Ensures integrity of Operating Model and Implementation Guide by adhering to issue management process and change control process. Works with Director, Financial Applications to access Trinity Health’s current and future needs in regards to the ERP Finance modules.

Works with all RHMs to ensure continued adherence to the ERP Finance Operating model.  Works with counterparts in Supply Chain, AP Shared Services and Payroll to ensure continued data integrity and Operating Model adherence.

Works with all RHMs on continued knowledge transfer and support of the ERP Financial applications. Provides RHM on-site or remote support/training as necessary.

Maintains an understanding of HIPAA and data security requirements and sensitivity to the security of patient information.

Maintains ongoing knowledge of ERP vendor plans for the Finance modules through participation in online and conference based training, User Groups, etc.

Maintains a working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, the Trinity Health Integrity and Compliance Program, Code of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with emphasis in Accounting, Finance  or related field with a background in Information Technology and Healthcare, or an equivalent combination of education or experience.  MBA or CPApreferred.

Minimum of five ( 5 ) to seven (7) years prior experience functioning as a “super user” within at least two (2) of the Trinity Health PeopleSoft Finance modules, e.g., general ledger, project costing, asset management, grant management, contract management, receivables (miscellaneous accounts receivable) and billing.

Experience with the following Trinity Health Finance Systems, i.e., Oracle OBIEE suite of products, Kaufman Hall, Hyperion HFM & Enterprise, Blackbaud, Lawson Finance Modules (General Ledger, Asset Management, Projects and Activities) preferred.

Minimum of five ( 5 ) to seven (7) years of ERP System implementation experience, participating in software configuration, test planning and execution, system integration testing, data conversion and validation, end-user training and post go-live support.

 Ability to lead and manage projects.  Ability to provide expert knowledge and experience for the ERP Finance modules.

Ability to manage multiple disparate ideas to achieve a single reasonable and comprehensive solution.

Ability to consult/collaborate with all levels of an organization to develop solutions to achieve desired outcomes.

Excellent human relations, management and presentation skills.

Strong analytical, organizational and group process skills.

Ability to prioritize work and work of others to meet defined goals.

Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative shared leadership environment.

Must be adept in at least two (2) of the Financial Applications being supported by the team and, preferably, multiple modules within each application.

Possesses an extensive understanding of the business operation in order to analyze Finance work flow and recommend alternate approaches in developing process improvement. Must be adept in documenting functional requirements using a structured methodology.

Excellent communication and facilitation skills are needed to interface with varied interests and audiences. Solid analytical, problem solving and decision making skills to effectively develop solutions to application/process issues and maximize application capabilities in order to meet the client’s business needs.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

This position operates in a typical office environment.  The area is well lit, temperature controlled and free from hazards.

Incumbent communicates, in person and over the phone, with people in a number of different locations on technical issues.  Manual dexterity is needed in order to operate keyboard.   Hearing is needed for telephone and in person communication. 

The environment in which the incumbent will work requires the ability to concentrate, meet deadlines, work on several projects at the same period and adapt to interruptions. 

Must be able to adapt to frequently changing work assignments and priorities.

Must be able to tolerate frequent interruptions.
