OverviewReporting to the Sr. Director, US Patient Services and Channel, the Field Reimbursement Director will optimize access to Alnylam products in his/her region by understanding and addressing reimbursement and patient access challenges. This position requires a professional who can leverage his/her technical expertise and experience to deliver educational, in-service programs to healthcare providers prior to delivering therapy, manage access issues as patient-specific therapy is initiated and leading action plans to resolve claims issues post-therapy. A key component of this role is the ability to establish and deepen customer relationships through quality interactions with prescribing physicians and their ancillary staff. As such, extensive knowledge of “buy and bill” products and prior launch experience with high-touch, specialty products is essential. The Field Reimbursement Team will be a critical component of the patisiran commercial strategy and work in close coordination with Field Sales, National Account Manager, Patient Services Hub, Patient Education Manager and Patient Advocacy Teams to support Alnylam’s patient-focused vision of harnessing a revolution in biology for human health®. The successful candidate must be passionate about science and deeply motivated by the quest of delivering value to patients and their families with the long-term success of the company in mind. He/she will participate in building the reimbursement strategy and work collaboratively with both internaland external colleagues to build tactical plans to execute on the strategic imperatives. Key Responsibilities

  • Leads regional reimbursement education and claims pull-through activities to ensure maximum patient access to Alnylam products
  • Collaborates with regional sales leadership to establish pre and peri-launch tactical plans
  • Leverage technical reimbursement expertise to provide exceptional customer service internally and externally to support patient access
  • Provides continuous education to regional, field-based colleague about coverage, coding and payment dynamics throughout the launch cycle and beyond
  • Works seamlessly with Alnylam Hub Case Managers to facilitate exceptional access experience for HCPs and patients
  • Participates in the development of KPIs and reporting dashboards to track critical launch metrics
  • Develop action plans to address specific patient access issues in close collaboration with NAM and other teams’ supports
  • Proactively drives business process improvements with internal colleagues
  • Work with Public Policy team on engagement strategies and tactics regarding MAC or local policy changes as well as state-level public policy initiatives.
  • Ensures compliance with all corporate and industry policies in collaboration with Alnylam Legal, Regulatory and Compliance

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required
  • 10 +years prior pharma/biotech experience
  • 5-7 years prior experience in similar role within Market Access organization
  • Prior experience launching specialty therapeutics in “buy and bill” environment required
  • Comprehensive understanding of both medical benefit and pharmacy benefit policies across payer types (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial, VA/DoD, etc.) and sites of care (HOPD, infusion centers, home infusion)
  • Established relationships with Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) highly preferred
  • Ability to lead without authority within with cross-functional groups and in a matrix organization
  • Exceptional professional communications and interpersonal/problem-solving skills necessary to interact with practice decision makers (CFO and other c-suite level stakeholders)
  • Demonstrated ability to identify key access barriers and design effective resolution plans
