The Field Engineer for structural steel will coordinate all sales and market development activities while working with design professionals, specifiers and steel fabricators to obtain specification of Simpson structural steel product offerings. This position is based in Southern California and provides technical services to Southern California, Las Vegas (Nevada), Phoenix (Arizona) and Hawaii. The Field Engineer will:
• Evaluate and establish channels of distribution for sales opportunities
• Provide technical support for Simpson structural steel design software tool(s)
• Assist with jobsite support for structural steel projects
• Provide technical support to steel fabricators/detailers
• Provide customer feedback and requests to the Market Development Manager, Product Managers and engineers
• Assist with development and review of literature for structural steel product offerings
25% of the time you will: Provide technical support for getting specification for Structural Steel components offered by SST.
25% of the time you will: Conduct technical presentations for individuals, groups and professional associations involved in new construction and/or the upgrade of existing structural steel systems focusing on general technical knowledge as well as the advantages of specifying of Simpson products. (Training on SST design software to gain specification.)
25% of the time you will: Evaluate and establish channels of distribution to support sales opportunities of structural steel specifications.
15% of the time you will: Develop and maintain relationships with engineers, engineering firms and steel fabricators within the region.
10% of the time you will: Coordinate and assist with development of marketing and technical literature.
Licensed Professional Engineer (CA required and Nevada preferred) - Required
B.S. degree in Civil/Structural Engineering - Preferred
5 years of structural design experience in structural steel projects. Experiences in design of wood, masonry, concrete a plus.
3 years of computer experience (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, ACAD, Revit, various design and detailing software). Experience with using structural analysis software ETAB and RISA preferred.
Construction knowledge: Practical working knowledge of common steel construction methods. Familiarity with Simpson products is a plus.
