As a Mechanical Engineer for Repair and Alteration Government Facilities, you’ll perform a variety of mechanical engineer/design skills including the following tasks: field work to assess existing conditions and prepare hand sketches to show existing conditions; report development; conceptual design; design calculations and equipment selection, material take off estimate; shop drawing review, site visits during construction. You will be assigned as Mechanical Engineer on facility projects for United States Postal Service and other clients. Projects will be for various types of facilities and will concentrate on major HVAC renovations in existing buildings and help us lay the foundation for human progress.

The minimum qualifications for this position are:

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET certified institution.
  • To be considered for this role, you must have at least 6 years of mechanical engineering/design experience, the emphasis should be in design of facility mechanical systems.
  • Must be able to perform extensive field walking tours outdoors and indoors in utility-type spaces.
  • Knowledge of broad range of HVAC and othermechanical systems is required, including air systems, hydronic and steam systems, natural gas and compressed air piping, domestic plumbing systems, and fire suppression piping and systems.
  • Experience must include design of numerous building mechanical system projects, including HVAC, controls, plumbing, and fire protection.
  • PE license in NY or NJ, or eligible to obtain within 1 year time frame.
  • Must be able to perform extensive field walking tours outdoors and indoors in utility-type spaces.
  • Current resident of Northern New Jersey or New York five Boroughs, U.S.
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent resident of the United States.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Prior experience with federal buildings.
  • Knowledge of and experience in applying New York City and New York State building codes plus.
