Job Description:

Responsibilities:

  • Plans, coordinates and performs manufacturing engineering work for a project or process of limited scope. May assign, coordinate and review portions of the work to support personnel, including contractors. 
  • Work plans and decisions are typically made within the established guidelines and reviewed by others. Duties: Provides support and basic trouble shooting for current operations. 
  • Investigates, gathers and analyze data for specifically assigned, recurring tasks. Establishes routings, methods, layouts, tools, costs, methods documentation, quality plans and labor standards for revisions to current operations and/or new parts or programs of limited scope. 
  • Identifies and implements cost reduction, quality, safety and ergonomic improvement ideas of limited scope. 
  • Works with electronic tools to perform engineering functions. Develops and implements plans of limited scope to support lean manufacturing through the Deere Production System. 
  • Designs operations layouts to improve material flow and material presentation. Participates in team studies related to capacity, energy, productivity and efficiency. 
  • Implements new manufacturing processes and technology. Modifies existing performance pay plans; assists in development of baseline data for new wage performance pay plans. 

?Skill Set Required?:

  • ?Basically I am looking for someone with extensive PLC programming experience (specific to our systems) in industry which can be demonstrated by their work experience. I also need someone who is an excellent communicator and has experience working in a union production environment. Many of the candidates I have reviewed have no PLC experience stated in their resumes. The ones that do so far primarily only have experience from school with limited work experience. Plans, coordinates, and performs factory automation work for a project or process. Operates in a team environment in support of plant production. Projects are of limited scope and responsibility; work plans and decisions are made within established guidelines and may be reviewed by supervisors and/or managers. May assign, coordinate, and review portions of the work for support personnel and contractors. 

MAJOR DUTIES: 

  • Performs day to day PLC development, integration, and troubleshooting tasks 
  • Provides support and basic trouble shooting for current operations. Investigates, gathers and analyze data for specifically assigned, recurring tasks. 
  • Support the deployed tools and processes by troubleshooting identified issues, providing technical training to front line staff, and drive for corrective action on failure modes as they are identified. 
  • Identifies and implements cost reduction, quality, safety and ergonomic improvement ideas of limited scope. 
  • Works with electronic tools to perform engineering functions. 
  • Work with Quality, and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure manufacturing goals are achieved.
  • Investigate, gather, analyze data and implemet solutions to improve processes. 
  • QUALIFICATIONS: Technical Skills & Knowledge: 
  • 4+ years of working industrial experience with PLCs/VFDs/Panelviews/etc specifically Allen Bradley equipment. 
  • 4+ years of experience working with AutoCad Electrical. 
  • 4+ years of experience working with industrial electrical systems. 
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA 70e standards and requirements. 
  • 2+ years of experience with html, sql and C programming languages. 
  • Demonstrable ability to troubleshoot complex multifaceted (electrical, hydraulic, mechanical) systems. 
  • Good understanding of networking principles and practices, as well as E/IP protocol. 
  • Experience in developing product validation in manufacturing environment 
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality, tooling, tool design, total predictive maintenance and facilities. 
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Education: 
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering/Technology or equivalent experience. Relevant Work 

Experiences: 

  • Experience in one or more related engineering areas: electrical, industrial, production, design, manufacturing. 
  • Experience working in a Union Environment, including directing wage skilled trades employees and communicating to management. 
  • Experience in Project management and business planning. - Small strategic projects or larger tactical projects with medium complexity 
  • Experience with engineering tools, systems and databases.
