The role:

The Executive Leadership of eBay has made a clear commitment and is allocating significant resources to transform the employee experience and workplace globally. Our two campuses in San Jose represent the Headquarters offices of the company and stand at the forefront of world-class office facilities. We are now seeking a Facility Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of 500,000 square feet of office space and approximately 4,000 employees and lead a high performing and diverse operations team, reporting to the Head of Americas Facilities Operations.

You will:

  • Oversee the day-to-day facility operations of our two corporate headquarters campuses in San Jose, CA, including facility management, office services, project management of smaller scale facility projects (i.e. less than $250k in value)
  • Closely partner with multiple business unit leaders, security teams, and third-party suppliers to ensure the smooth operation of the offices and industry-leading employee experiences
  • Submit, review and manage the facility expense and capital budget, partnering closely with the manager of WPR Business Operations & Financial Planning; monitor expenses and prepare monthly accrual reports to ensure timely & accurate accounting of expenses
  • Partner with our Strategic Planning Team and understand business strategies and translate them to facility operational requirements
  • Provide superior facility services to emulate industry standard methodologies, making eBay a wonderful place to work
  • Actively liaise with key partners both within the Workplace Resources Org (Real Estate, Strategy, Space Planning, Employee Services, Design & Construction, EH&S) and across the company (HR, Finance, IT, Procurement, Legal, Brand) to ensure that facility goals and objectives are achieved
  • Regularly inspect facilities to ensure the highest levels of service delivery
  • Actively identify and recommend initiatives that focus on service improvements, cost reductions, quality improvements, risk mitigation, industry trends and other relevant factors that impact workplace effectiveness (BMS, lighting, HVAC, furniture, etc.)
  • Oversee the efficient delivery of facility services, considering the following as performance measures: quality, cost, and timeliness
  • Communicate with internal partners & leaders to ensure alignment and smooth execution of facility projects on time and within budget
  • Develop & implement standardized/best practice facility management processes to create long-term efficiencies
  • Partner with and support the San Jose employee services team to ensure excellence in all events (both internal & external), and to help ensure all employee services (dining, fitness, shuttle services etc.) are best in class
  • Partner with and support the eBay sustainability team providing energy data and ensuring a focus on environmental standards
  • Ensure a managed approach to receiving & resolving workplace maintenance & service complaints
  • Ensure industry-leading training & development of in-house and 3rd party HQ facility operations teams
  • Any other facility duties as assigned by the Head of Americas Facilities Operations

You have:

  • Demonstrated success building teams and leading across multiple locations
  • Proven ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from senior management, managers, customers, suppliers and contractors
  • Demonstrated skill delivering strategic approaches, with agile execution while supporting growth
  • Demonstrated skill at delivering to performance objectives, for scope, schedule, and cost
  • Ability to respond to sensitive issues and work with senior leaders
  • Staff management experience (performance & development) is required
  • Communication: demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both in verbal and written forms
  • Interpersonal: demonstrated ability to listen to others to understand their perspectives, to define and communicate objectives and programs effectively, and persuade vendors and contractors to perform to meet commitments
  • Significant personnel management experience for large campus environments

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Facilities Management, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Design or Business
  • 7+ years of facility management experience, with experience running campus facilities for a technology company preferred
  • Minimum of 5+ years of direct staff management experience, preferably in a fast-paced, technology focused office environment
  • Ability to travel between locations (8 miles one way)
  • Facilities certifications (CFM, FMA, RPA, LEED, PMP) preferred
