Position Summary:The External Communications Manager (Corporate Communications) will lead external communication to optimize LG Energy Solution's engagement with media, joint venture partner companies and other industry and government stakeholders in the North America Region. This role will collaborate with global PR strategy, global communications team and external affairs and government relations in North America. This position will be dually reporting to Director of External Affairs & Governmental Relations based in Troy, Michigan and Public Relations Department Leadership in Seoul.
Primary Responsibilities: - Responsible for corporate communications in North America region. This includes developing and maintaining media relationships and coordinating joint venture related communications in alignment with partner companies and LGES global communications team in Seoul.
- Develop briefing materials and presentations for LGES leadership to support engagement with top industry, media, and government stakeholders;
- Support community affairs and outreach for LGES facilities, with occasional travel to LGES sites in Michigan and Arizona, and potentially joint venture communities.
- Develop regional press materials, follow up media requests and support crisis/issues management topics in alignment with LGES global communications team in Seoul.
- Initiate and lead the implementation of localized campaigns and messages for news aligned with the LGES global PR strategies.
- Corroborate and deliver synchronized communication in accordance with North America PR plans with LGES global communications team in Seoul.
- Work closely with PR/PA agency (if needed) in developing press releases, policy messaging, media alerts, brand messaging and oversee media outreach.
- Engage with membership organizations to develop and amplify LGES industry, business and policy positions.
- Generally support North America leadership's external communication activities. Participate in additional projects/duties as requested by management.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's Degree required. Major in the related fields of communications, public relations, or marketing is preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of corporate experience in working directly in Public Relations, Public Affairs, Media or communications
- Fluency in English and Korean highly desirable
- Experience in digital/social media, advertising, branding and corporate sponsorships.
- Strong communication skills and ability to articulate and represent LGES' industry leadership to external audiences.
- Knowledge of and experience in battery, automotive, or clean energy industry/manufacturing, preferred.
- Motivated individual who is confident, proactive, and can independently manage dynamic workload while accommodating global work hours and deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and strategic mentality; capable of aligning company strengths and goals to leverage strategic external opportunities and challenges, with an ultimate goal of business growth and stability.
- Ability to engage across a diverse stakeholder group with executive presence and to professionally manage politically charged settings and topics;
- 10-15% Domestic/International Travel required.
