Our interior design team is a group of human-centric, design-thinking individuals. We strive to design inspirational and transformative spaces that make every day extraordinary. We work on a large variety and scale of exciting projects sometimes working independently as interior designers and other times within a larger integrated project team. The Senior Interior Designer role includes aspects in project management, design/project work, leadership and business development. How you'll make a difference:
Project Management:- Lead project teams through all phases, guiding work and people to align with project goals
- Manage client expectations, ensure effective communication, and coordinate with consultants throughout each project stage
- Collaborate with clients to understand their requirements, preferences and goals
- Develop, oversee and be accountable for project budgets, workplans and schedules and resource needs on a per-project basis
- Lead and manage both small and large projects, working independently and managing teams
- Act as prime consultant or part of a larger interdisciplinary team
- Lead building permit submissions including consultant documentation and ensure requirements are met
- Conduct regular QA/QC through all phases of the project to ensure project, design, building code and construction requirements are met
Design/Project Work:- Lead and contribute towards design efforts throughout all project phases, from strategy to final implementation
- Define, facilitate and implement project strategy, visioning and programming
- Oversee and implement space planning and design alignment with client needs and building code requirements
- Display strong communication skills in listening, writing and presenting
- Guide design through SD and DD whether independently or with a team
- Shows great attention to detail and is committed to delivering high quality work
- Prepare and oversee final plans and specifications to meet industry codes and standards
- Lead and participate in consultant coordination
- Oversee and contribute towards the generation of and present design concepts in internal and client meetings
- Manage and implement the selection of FFE
- Lead and facilitate CA services such as site visits, field reviews, progress draws, shop drawings and site instructions
Leadership and Business Development:- Mentor and lead project and interior design teams, supporting other senior contributors and the partnership
- Participate in proposals to support marketing activities
- Provide coaching and mentoring to team members
- Build current and future client relationships through exceptional client service and project delivery
- Support team members growth, learning and meeting individual career goals
- Embody a proactive and growth-oriented mindset with a high level of project ownership and team leadership
- Contribute to the collaborative firm culture, demonstrating thought leadership and expertise
- Engage in practice groups and round tables to support industry development
- Promote new ideas and process improvement
- Manage multiple projects across sectors
You bring:- Diploma/Degree in Interior Design/Design Technology
- NCIDQ certificate completed or are willing to complete this designation within 12 months
- 10+ years of experience as an Interior Designer, with strong knowledge, creativity and experience of the design process
- Working knowledge using REVIT or AutoCAD.
- Proficiency with Adobe Suite and Microsoft Office
- Confident hand drawing skills
- Experience working with rendering software
- Familiarity with Rhino is a bonus
- A comprehensive knowledge of building codes and construction regulations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, multitask, prioritize work, adapt quickly to changing work demands, complete tasks quickly and efficiently, meet deadlines
- Excellent communication skills, team oriented, accountable, and highly motivated
- Proven, well-rounded experience in participating in client engagement processes from programming and conceptual design, design development, through to construction phases
- Project management and contract administration experience is required
- A design enthusiast, who can translate concepts into uniquely experiential and functional design solutions
- A high achiever with a desire to grow and learn both personally and professionally
