The Executive Relationship Manager (ERM) position is expected to be a collaborative trusted advisor who builds relationships and creates client and business partner value. The ERM is an industry consultant that earns trust and provides value through strategic insights, thought leadership, industry expertise and problem solving that drive growth, new opportunities, efficiencies and measurable results for the client and the enterprise.

This role is responsible for leading the sales, business development, and client management efforts for merchants within one or more assigned industry verticals (portfolio). Develops and executes key objectives associated with the industry, including an emphasis on driving/protecting incremental revenue, improving market share, enhancing the customer experience while maximizing profitability against key initiative and goal priorities.

*This role is a REMOTE position and will require travel.

Responsibilities

  • Drive mutually beneficial opportunities, efficiencies, and measurable results for the client and DFS
  • As trusted advisors, provide value through sharing voice of customer, strategic insights, thought leadership, collaboration, and industry expertise
  • Develops and executes client management strategies and represents DFS as the strategic liaison and central point of contact.
  • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with key decision-makers across all divisions of the assigned strategic account portfolio.
  • Acts as the industry expert and is responsible for one or more industry verticals, and mentors other teammates.
  • Owns and coordinates team activities against key initiatives and goal priorities.
  • Presents and executes marketing and promotional initiatives to increase sales and grows market share.
  • Manages and implements operational initiatives and ensures full compliance with Discover process(es).
  • Participates in industry events, organizations, and association-related events/conferences.
  • 20-25% travel involved

Minimum Qualifications

At a minimum, here's what we need from you:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, or related field
  • 6+ years of experience in account relationship management, negotiation, payments, or related field
  • In lieu of a degree, 8+ years of experience in account relationship management, negotiation, payments, or related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Business, or related field
  • Self starter with a professional demeanor/communication skills
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Strong understanding of the Payments landscape and how it's changing
  • Adaptable
  • Prior relationship management/business development experience supporting supermarkets
