Purpose of Job

The Learning and Development Leader is responsible for creating and leading the P&C Learning and Development function. The executive will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing Learning & Development activities that fulfill the Property & Casualty Insurance organization's vision to deliver excellence through people solutions. This leader will assess current learning needs and design and deliver programs and solutions that help us scale programming across a diverse group of talented insurance professionals. We are looking for an experienced teammate with a background in the insurance industry, an expertise in learning and development philosophy and the desire to truly innovate as an industry leader in this space.


Job Requirements

  • Creates the strategy and provides learning and development expertise and leadership regarding the development and delivery of training for the organization, to include a framework for how we designate and ensure certifications for key roles.
  • Provides strategic direction on the development and prioritization of new content and best practices in the learning and development space across a variety of delivery platforms
  • Partners with the business line Senior HRBP and executives across the organization to develop a comprehensive learning, development and implementation strategy that anticipates and prepares for future skill requirements including how our teammates learn and how they conduct their work in the future
  • Provides executive leadership to a team of learning specialists responsible for content development, content review, design, management, and administration for training needs across the organization
  • Serves as the key executive making decisions about what new solutions will be developed, both internally and externally
  • Partners with the HR Learning and Development COE, as needed, on leadership development and solutions
  • Leads broad functional and Enterprise projects. Often serves as an executive sponsor for projects
  • Oversees the development of training policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Empowers employees to feel ownership over their career and personal growth through impactful leadership, and programming.

Minimum Experience:​

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree
  • 10 or more years of progressive related experience developing learning strategies, managing major training initiatives and delivering results within a complex matrix environment required
  • 6 or more years of people leadership experience in building, managing and/or developing high-performing teams required
  • Experience collaborating with key resources and stakeholders, influencing decisions and managing work to achieve strategic goals required
  • Executive-level business acumen in the areas of business operations, industry practices and emerging trends required
  • Knowledge and understanding of training requirements to meet financial institution standards
  • Strong communication (both written and verbal) and demonstrated ability to influence

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An innovative leader comfortable with exploring new and untested methods in the learning and development space
  • Demonstrated experience in a large financial services institution - Insurance
  • Deep understanding of Learning & Development systems and their function
  • Strong background in program / project management, developing action plans and prioritization
  • Prior experience building a learning function in a large corporate environment
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing external vendor relationships to achieve project goals
  • A business partner, obsessed with the employee experience
