Member of the Senior Management Team. Responsible for implementing thehospital Strategic Plan. Serves as the facility Chief Nursing Officer. Directs and participates in the development of hospital and system wide patient care programs, policies, and procedures that describe how the nursing care needs of patients or patient populations receiving nursing care are assessed, evaluated, and met. Develops and implements an effective and ongoing program to monitor, evaluate, and improve the quality and appropriateness of patient care delivered to patients of thehospital and acts as a liaison for the System. Coordinates the activities of theclinical departments with other departments of the hospital and the System toassure quality patient care is maintained. Directs and participates in the development and implementation of the Hospital's plan for the provision of patient care. Directs and has final authority for development of patient care policies and procedures; standards of care; standards of practice; and standards to measure, assess, and improve patient outcomes. Interprets and enforces policies in accordance with theState Professional Licensing Practice Act, legal requirements, and JCAHO. Supportsthe schools of nursing clinical disciplines. Supports hospital-based educational activities; coordinates programs to maintain a learning environment and to provide appropriate educational experience. Establishes mechanisms for collaboration between clinical staff and medical staff.
Preferred (nursing or related field; may include health care administration or business administration) - Graduate of a nursing program. Able to care for patients withvarying levels of illness. Good communication and critical thinking skills are a must.
