The Executive Assistant will support the CEO and the Executive Office and will report to the Chief of Staff & Director of Executive Operations. A successful candidate will be a skilled influencer in external and internal relationship building, calendar/travelmastermind, Meeting/Project Manager, go-to Editor, knowledge and tech geek. Amyris is a public start-up biotech company focused on providing renewable products for a better world – as such, we are experiencing fast growth, and the ideal candidate will need to successfully manage the demands of the CEO’s office with resilience and grace while juggling multiple deadlines and priorities in a higher energy and fast-paced environment.

Roles & Responsibilities

* Run the CEO’s office seamlessly with a strategic eye towards planning, anticipating next steps as well as an ability to manage all the details involved with day to day details.
* Arrange complex and detailed international travel plans for the CEO as well as VIPs as needed.
* Manage all activity related to the CEO’s office: VIP Meetings (Board Meetings, Investors, Partners), large internal meetings (Management, All-Hands), day-to-day management of an ever-changing calendar to meet the current needs of the office.
* Effective interpersonal “influencer” skills to establish and maintain positive working relationships across the organization, with all levels of management and with VIP guests and partners. Build relationships and trust.
* A passion for Amyris’s mission will be key to successfully understanding the business. We are a learning environment.
* Skillsets should include document creation and editorial skills in PowerPoints (Board material, investor decks, quarterly letters), weekly CEO letters, and provide analysis and research projects.  
* Manage all the Finances (expenses, POs, budget).
* Foster and maintain an upbeat, energetic and spirited Executive Office.
* Learn and become the information source on organization policies, safety and procedures.
* Participate in administrative support community through meetings, team building, training, and other activities.

Skills & Qualifications

* Exercises good judgment and discretion in resolving confidential, difficult and sensitive situations
* Able to present a professional demeanor, be resilient and inventive in high stress and/or limited time scenarios
* Confidentiality, diplomacy and a high degree of professionalism is required
* Able to consistently follow through and take ownership of projects and programs
* Ability to perform detailed work independently and accurately with minimal direct supervision
* Tech-savviness; an ability to stay on top of new tools and technologies, with an interest and passion to constantly acquire new skills and share them with others
* Proven exceptional written and verbal communication skills


* 7+ years of Executive Assistant experience supporting a C-level executive
* 7+ years in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
* Experience in publicly listed company highly desirable; experience in biotech a plus
* BA/BS required
