About the role.
Privilege Underwriters, Inc. is the insurance holding company dedicated to creating an exceptional P&C insurance experience for responsible high-net-worth individuals and families that are members of Privilege Underwriters Reciprocal Exchange (PURE).
We host a handful of signature member, broker, and employee events each year, including our lead sponsorship of a PGA golf tournament held in Pebble Beach, CA. As part of the Marketing & Communications Team, the Events Director serves as the primary project manager for these multi-day experiences, coordinating resources and budgets for maximum impact against event goals. The position reports to the VP, Creative Director and can be based out of the Charleston or White Plains office. This will be a hybrid role, with an expectation of in-office presence on the days that the rest of the Marketing team is in-office (currently, Tuesday/Wednesday).
What you’ll do.
- Coordinate, from start to finish, the ideation, planning, and delivery of a handful of annual events, including two internal development conferences, a premier experience for key distribution partners, and select other signature events that advance our brand awareness with current and potential distribution partners and members
- Partner with our creative team to oversee the development of event design, experience, and brand presence onsite
- Be the lead on developing invitee lists
- Work closely with our Sales & Marketing team to ensure event strategy complements our overarching business objectives.
- Oversee and stay accountable to budgets, plans, schedules, and contractual obligations.
- Work closely with multiple internal and external partners and stakeholders to produce and manage each event including venue selection, contract negotiations, travel/accommodations, concessions, entertainment, etc.
- Responsible for ongoing communication with the operations team regarding event dates, location, and other logistics.
- Lead the on-site event team
- Collect and manage post-event feedback
What we're looking for.
- Events-related
- 8+ years of event management (or similar) experience. Planning events in the financial industry is a plus.
- Outstanding project management and negotiation skills
- Highly creative with a strong eye for event design and a love of detail
- Experience with contract negotiation
- A firm grasp on the business speaker circuit and interest in identifying hidden gems for PURE events
- Experience working with Destination Management Companies (DMC) or other entities that provide vital supplemental support
- Mastery in creating, tracking, and managing a budget that can be easily shared and understood by other members of the team
- Technical
- Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills (be ready to share examples)
- Airtable, Monday or other project management tool experience is a requirement
- General
- Excited by/comfortable with a fast-paced, dynamic, hands-on role
- Strategic thinker who enjoys working in a collaborative environment
- Self-starter and eager to learn and grow skills
- Acts with a sense of urgency and can make smart decisions on the fly
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality or a related field is preferred
- Project Management certification is a plus
- Ability to travel as required for the role

The base salary for this role can range from $100k - $120k, based on a full-time work schedule. An individual’s ultimate compensation will vary depending on job-related skills and experience, geographic location, alignment with market data, and equity among other team members with comparable experience.
